We were Safety Patrol Boys (and girls later). The program was sponsored by AAA and we were the early crossing guards for schools before they felt they needed adults for the job. I did 2 years (5th grade and 6th grade). We wore belts like these boys are wearing, except these guys were about 40 years before my time. LOL
/sigh It was considered an honor in my school to be on the Safety Patrol. Unfortunately I was always getting fired from the patrol because of my less-than-stellar behavior at school.

Maybe I DO need a belt-thingie like that, just to help me overcome that traumatic childhood experience that KeithB just dredged up from the depths of my memories.

I will not be ordering one of these. But reading the posts, I am left with the impression that many don't understand its intended use.

Some write as though you would walk around all day with the sash deployed.

I also note that in the parallel thread started by Excalibur after the police shooting of Eric Scott, the sash idea is considered slightly more plausible.

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36170" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Vegas shooting only highlights the identification issue. Mr. Scott was unaware of his situation and a sash could not have been deployed.

But if you've used your firearm and are waiting for the police to arrive, the sash MIGHT make sense.

I think it depends a lot on if your local PD or SO issues the sashes. If they do, the police and deputies are familiar with them and having one could be useful for IFF. If they don't, a CHL badge or a concho (like Tucker offers) could be better for helping the LEOs think twice before gunning you down.

My HF1 has the concho, but for looks. I never considered, nor do I believe, that it lends any credibility to me.

I hope nobody wears a CCW sash because they like the looks. :lol:

Yes thank you! Safety Patrol! My memory is terrible.
