I would like to remind the mods that points are periodically erased from your driving record. :waiting:
Yes, but like driving, points accrued remain on the record for a period of three years from conviction date. Let's see, you joined April 2008, so you have over a year before any of your points start to drop off. Better be careful!! ;-)

Wait, what? Are we getting tickets now? :smash:
Yep, there's a warrant out for your arrest. :evil2:

Is there a forum rules and etiquette course I can take to have tickets dropped?

Or perhaps I can be put on a probationary period in which, if I do not break any rules during that time, I will have the charges dismissed?

This thread has made its ugly run. Can we put it out of its misery please?

:iagree: , it has been somewhat self-serving.

So if a moderator on horseback pulls you aside for a PM scolding, are you required to show him both your TDL and CHL?

OK, seriously, we have taken this tread WAY off topic (me included.) Let's get back to the OP's original question.

For me, I think most folks are just trying to help. While not everyone has a legal background, many do know pretty well what will happen in some situations.

But, anyone taking information from an Internet forum should take it with a grain of salt unless you know who the person posting is an expert in the field and you explicitly trust their information and advice.

As far as a sign not being legal......just look and laugh and be on your merry way!! If they don't want to take the time to read the law, then why should take the time to tell them.

And, as far drinking and carrying.....go to the DPS website FAQ section and it's tells you right there the right answer!!!!

But if you quote it verbatim, lots of people want to argue about it, which was pretty much my point. ;-)

I avoided bringing any particular issue into this discussion, because it happens with many topics: drinking, open carry, improper 30.06 signage, printing, traveling, etc.

I don't want to squelch discussion and debate, not in the least. This is a fairly busy forum, but it's not so busy that someone can't read the new posts once or twice a week and keep up with things.

My main interest is in making sure questions are met with accurate answers, not gun shop lore or conventional wisdom. Yeah, it's work to dig up and quote the appropriate statute. Not a lot of work, but definitely more work than just popping off with a quick 30 second response that isn't supported by the facts.

So I guess my plea is this: instead of a "I don't know, but... " response, let's all take a few minutes to provide an accurate answer to the best of our abilities.

I agree, I have been guilty of this and am going to make my best effort to correct it.
