Fan Boy?
The wording of that particular description makes my skin crawl as it sounds kinda "festive" eh?
Men (said in sonorous voice) and women too, who appreciate function over fashion know Glocks for what they are, that is to say, excellent, modern firearms.
I can understand those appreciators of the 1911.
Many folks love functional antiques...

For those wondering how to identify a Glock Fan Boy here are some Glock Fan Boy-isms:
Normal person: I need a drill.
Fan Boy: Get a Glock.
Normal person: I'm looking for a revolver.
Fan Boy: Get a Glock.
Normal person: I just bought a 1911.
Fan Boy: That design hasn't changed much in nearly 100 years, its junk. You want something thats modern, Get a Glock.
Normal person: I just bought an M&P.
Fan Boy: Its too new of a design, you want a solid design that has proven itself with at decades of service. Get a Glock.
Normal Person: I need a fly swatter.
Fan Boy: Get a Glock.
Normal Person: I am taking up archery.
Fan Boy: Get a Glock.
Normal Person: Get a life.
Fan Boy: Get a Glock.
These are all statements that I have observed either in person or online somewhere, but mostly in person. For the record about the first one, that is a simplified version of a conversation I had this week.

Hey, 1911's aren't junk - they work, but then so do muskets...
I do understand the love of old design though. Look how popular Louis IX furniture is with it's archetypalneoclassica appeal and too, many still love those old coal burning locomotives.
Why not? There's a lot to love.
Me, I like Model T Fords with their charming hand crank start and fun, non-stop maintenance, kinda like 1911's...
And pshaw on the criticism regarding the limited magazine capacity of these charming antiquities.
They carry more rounds than most revolvers by gum!

Well, as my previous post said, I love my Glocks. But, I bought another 1911 yesterday.

Thanks again Mr. Browning, and no offense Gaston.

To be such antiques they sure sleek and narrow and concealable, especially to be .45s.

I hope that Glock-Fan-Boy-ism is the reason. Otherwise that's one of the most ridiculous posts I've ever read. I love my Glocks, but the 1911 is one of if not the best pistol design of all time and nearly 100 years after it's introduction is still one heckuva capable and beautiful beautiful firearm. If I God-forbid ever need to actually use a firearm in self-defense and my trusty Glock isn't around, I'd be very happy to have a 1911 in my hands.
I like good-natured ribbing as much as the next guy and hope that's all the post above was - just poking some fun at 1911 fans. Because the analogies are just pure insanity. I mean come on, a musket? A Model T Ford? Don't see too many Model T Ford's at the top levels of auto racing. A ton of the "top guns" in competitive shooting use 1911-pattern guns.

Just make sure you know it's a "Lightweight" due to the alloy frame.

I blew coffee thru my nose after reading that!
Yes, it was just good natured ribbing aimed at the antique loving - 1911 Fan Boys.

I just want to throw in here that if the 1911 were truly "all that", there would have been no need to continue to develop firearms beyond it. There must have been something about the 1911 that needed worked on.... thus... we have the totally improved version after years of changes and development... The Glock was born! Perfection in a firearm has now been achieved.
