Well, I picked up my new XDm yesterday - and they still wanted the 90 day proof. Hardly a big deal - it adds all of 2 minutes to the entire process, and that's only because I forgot to photocopy the 3 bits of paper before I left for the shop.
As an aside - for anyone shopping for guns in Austin who thinks the process is more pleasant without being talked down to by counter warmers who don't care about your business I'd recommend Heritage on 183N. Flat rate mark up over cost, willing to talk about your requirements and no pushing "specials" (which I always interpret as "we have too many of these crappy guns that we can't sell at our inflated prices"). Even give you a decent middle of the range value on a trade in. YMMV but I'll go back there.
