Looks like the popos kept Q-Tip and his croanies from crossing into River Oaks from Grey, any legal grounds they would have to keep people off a public sidewalk? Just coppers being coppers?

River Oaks is a symbol of upper-class [white] wealth , everything the "protestors" envy and despise.
Envy, I'll buy. Despise, No. I believe a huge majority of these "protestors" would love to reside in RO. Work, Sacrifice, Delay Gratification, Earn the wherewithal to be a resident, not so much.
Supposedly River Oaks was selected because in the past River Oaks patrols profiled.
Looks like the did walk in River Oaks (junior) but were required to stay on the sidewalks.
Boy horses really make a good crowd control devices.

Blacks and Jews were not permitted to live in River Oaks for a very long time. It didn't matter how much money you had, you could not buy in River Oaks if you were black or jewish.
That's why the jewish money went to the MacGregor area and built all those wonderful old homes down there. Later, that community migrated towards Braeswood and the area of MacGregor off 288 fell into decades of disrepair. Interestingly, the gentrification and re-building of that area began in earnest ~25 years ago with an influx of middle and upper-middle class blacks who rehabbed the dilapidated former Jewish enclave into what it is today - a place with a lot of nicely restored older homes.
The history of the wards, race, class, and real estate development in Houston is a fascinating one.

"Supposedly?"
Seriously?
Am I the only one here old enough to remember when HPD had no problem with the private security in River Oaks impersonating HPD officers and doing traffic stops of anyone in a crappy car or dark skin who dared to drive through the place just to look at the pretty houses? It happened to me and to others I know, albeit ~30 years ago.
Reputations like that die hard. People will (arguably) rightfully remember the profiling done by River Oaks patrols for another generation or two.

Quanell Ralph Evans was born in Los Angeles, California. Both parents were Nation of Islam converts. When they divorced, Evans moved to Houston to live with his mother and younger brother in the South Acres neighborhood, where he attended Worthing High School.[1] Quanell was a drug dealer in the Sunnyside community located in southern Houston, Texas.[2] Quanell served jail time for selling crack cocaine in the Sunnyside and Acres Homes subdivisions in Houston, Texas, in the 1980s.
If I ever meet him, I'm going to call him Ralph. That ought to brighten up things a bit.

I've been stopped many times in the Villages, but never in River Oaks. I've had plenty of cruddy cars.

He said supposedly that's why River Oaks was selected. Not supposedly they profiled.

Woman who held up racist sign and shouted racist chants to rile up Quanell X's marchers was an Austin based left wing plant. She is outed in this story.
Apparently her photo was picked up by news media and published world wide as a pro Zimmerman supporter.

Oh.
Dadgum, I'm embarrassed. I didn't read it like that at all. If that's what philip964 meant in his post, then -
philip964, I apologize. It was wrong of me to go off on that tangent.

Now that this has been exposed, how quick will that same media be to report on Ms. Vaughn?

They reported on her fairly quickly. The problem is that they just reported her side of the story. It was all sarcasm to make the pro-Zimmerman side look stupid, of course.

It was reported today on the radio that Quanell X is helping the woman who shot and killed the man in the filling station with a rifle avoid an indictment. He believes this was a clear case of "stand your ground" and she was well with in her rights to shoot and kill the man.
Was I just not paying attention on Sunday to what he was saying then.
Was there an earlier post about pigs flying.
