Absolutely! I'm going to promote another change to the Private Security Act that would exempt volunteer security personnel serving public and private schools. There is a multitude of military veterans and retired police officers that would be happy to serve. I'm not saying that the exemption would apply only to those groups of people; they are just examples of people who would be happy to help protect our kids.Liberty wrote:. . . We stumble around, but its time we stop restricting firearms into government buildings. There is absolutely no reason to restrict the most law abiding citizens the right to protect themselves in the killing field known as "gunfree zones" We shouldn't require special training or extra security type clearance. If we are licensed to carry into our city's into our parks and playgrounds than we should be good enough to carry into our schools. I am pretty sure that the state's record of throwing money at an issue after a disaster usually doesn't work out like we indeed. . . .
You're wasting your time, the anti-gunners are not going to change their minds. They're not going to change yours.philip964 wrote:I'm battling on Facebook with anti gunners who want the AR-15 banned.
It is not the guns, in the immortal words of Pogo, "WE HAVE SEEN THE ENEMY AND IT IS US."apostate wrote: America doesn't have a "gun problem" but rather a cultural problem. Violence as a form of expression has become normalized. Look at the violent anti-Trump and pro-fascist protests. Look at the manner in which Philadelphia expressed its joy over the SB win. Look at "thug life" and other crap that is not only tolerated, but celebrated in the name of multiculturalism.
Yeah many have said I'm wasting my time.bblhd672 wrote:You're wasting your time, the anti-gunners are not going to change their minds. They're not going to change yours.philip964 wrote:I'm battling on Facebook with anti gunners who want the AR-15 banned.
I'm no longer debating anyone online or face to face about it. The progressive socialists' minds are too poisoned to accept anything other than the talking points issued by their dear leaders.
I verified with Karl Rehn that we shot the 120 round DPS Shoot Under Duress. There is obvious an error in the course description. The DPS accepted the class paperwork and I have my certificate. The Under Duress was very challenging and interesting. Photo realistic targets of bad guys holding hostages in various poses and positions, shooting from several different distances.oljames3 wrote:I'm not sure how many rounds we fired during the duress shooting. I was a long course. I fired 318 rounds over the two days of the class. Karl said we fired more than required. I'll ask about the description.Charles L. Cotton wrote:I'm confused about this class. I looked at the class listing and it states that it involves drawing from a holster, using a concealment garment, shooting from cover, and a 50 rd. shooting under duress segment. None of these are in the official DPS SSC course and the Shooting Under Duress segment is 120 rds, not 50. DPS expressly prohibits deviating from the specified proficiency drills as noted in the following statement, "The course of fire must be current, as provided by the Department of Public Safety. No alteration of the course of fire is allowed."oljames3 wrote:I took the course at KR Training in December, 2017, and have my certificate. In addition to the other things I learned in the 18 hour course, I have shown I can achieve over 90% on the Texas LTC course of fire, pass the DPS Shooting Under Duress exercise, and pass the shooting course for a major Texas city police department.
This training seems applicable to businesses and churches, as well as school districts.
Karl Rehn is presenting the class again March 12-13 in Conroe, Texas. https://www.saddleriverrange.com/traini ... -training/
Did the course you attended follow the format set out in Karl's current course description?

The hero coach was also acting as an armed security guard. He ran to the sound of gunfire. If he had been armed and trained, he probably would have been more effective in protecting the students. This is not a criticism of this hero; he did all he could and sacrificed himself. It is a criticism of a school system that failed to arm him!
If only 30% of our education taxes go to teachers, then there is a lot of fat in school budgets to use to harden the schools. After all, isn't it worth it if only one life is saved!
