Welcome KentuckyBoy. Your the first I've seen to own the Taurus 1911. How do you like it? How does it compare to others?

dws1711,

I just picked it up a month ago at the Denton show. Put about 100 rounds through it the following weekend, and it lives up to the magazine hype - almost. It DOES have the "upgrade" features that are advertised (Heinie sights, polished ramp, upgraded trigger, etc.), but it's certainly not on a par with the Kimber and others in the $950 and up range. For $460, I think it's excellent!

My only other 1911-style was a Springfield I owned 20 years ago, and it's head and shoulders over that one.

It was very comfortable on the range. No problems, good accuracy (like most of my guns, I'm sure they shoot straighter than I can hold...) and it felt comfortable both right-handed and left-handed.

I have a couple of other small frame .45s (Detonics Mark I, Glock 36) and I wanted a 1911-style large frame pistol for the range. Once I got it, I found it's as easy to carry a big pistol.

So far, so good - I feel like it was a good value.
