Huffines knows his Amendment 9 would not kill HB 910 either way. So he could sit down and shut up and it wouldn't make any difference to the success or failure of HB 910. Or he could continue to let the debate go on and use up the floor time.

I was just about to ask, could Huffines just refuse to yield and instead go ahead and move adoption of the amendment? Let's let the floor decide and get on to the rest of the amendments and hopefully the vote for the bill.

What happened? I call Sen. Huffines office and get back on and they're in recess. There's another (non gun related bill) I want them to get to today.

Of course he could, but that's not on his "hidden" agenda.

I think it's time for an intervention. Maybe Alice could get up there and knock some sense into him.

Wait! What the heck happened? I had to step away for a meeting for about an hour. I come back and the bill says it failed?!? Someone please help fill me in! When I left they were going back and forth over and over about CLEAT.

It's been like that all day. I don't think it means anything yet, except that it is currently in the Senate but not yet passed. I hope it's not them trying to telegraph the outcome!

They recessed until 6pm

Until 6pm? They are usually done for the day by now, but the day before a long weekend they are working late? :confused5

What happened was that Sen. Huffines is trying to re-introduce the Dutton amendment, and it started a LONNNNGGGGGGGG series of debate, which in essence was turning into a filibuster. And it lasted so long Sen. Estes called for postponement until 6:00pm so they can resume senate business and continue the debate at that time.
