Finally found 9mm at Academy in Abilene. Problem is, they limited to 1 box per person. I didn't have time to jack with the guy by checking out, taking the box to the truck, coming back in and buying another repeatedly...... I'll do that this weekend.

Round Rock Academy had about 6 boxes 525 Remmington .22LR. Lots of 38Special. .223 is out from behind the counter now on the regular rifle ammo shelf. They had it in both places (must have run out of room) They had at least 20 boxes of the metal case 223 monarch for 6.49. They had well over 200+ brass case 223 for 9.95.
No 380,9,40 or 45.

Looks like ammo man had a price reduction from last week. Now he is only a hundred bucks per thousand higher than in November. Some may feel it is a good deal. I don't, but I have plenty of stash.

San Antonio - SE Side WalMart (Goliad and SE Military) - accurate as of 5 Jun 09 at 0930 hrs CT.

.357 Winchester 50 Rd box FMJ- 18.98
.38 Winchester 50 Rd +P PP JHP - 18.98
9 mm - 100 WWB Value Pack - 23.98
.40 many boxes of 50 Rds (makes me want to go get a .40 jsut to have ammo ;-) )

Not sure how long it will last. Took the store 25 minutes to find the girl with the key. I told the Asst Manager that the drill aisle was only 3 rows over and I was good and quick with a drill. Didn't work so we waited...and waited. I think the key girl was having a fling with a stocker in the back as she said she never heard the 30 or 40 pages they made for her.

Good luck -

Doug :txflag:

I think we are seeing supplies ramping back up. AK47 prices are coming down too. I may buy back all the rifles I sold at half what I sold them for...LOL. I also noticed several AR15 style rifles sitting on the rack at Academy with not one interested party proclaiming they will take them all. Yep....the scare seems to be subsiding.

I still can't find 9mm anywhere cheap in Austin. Check every wal-mart and academy every day with no luck.

Went in to Wally World in Mansfield today. They had some 9mm Federal Champion 115GR FMJ RN Brass for the same price as the CCI Blazer Brass 8.97 for a box of 50. They also had some .40. I didn't take a count of boxes.

$8.97??? Wow!! That's the cheapest I've seen it! The last box I bought was at Winchester Gallery in F.W. for $16.95 for American Eagle. I would have driven all the way from North Arlington to get 2 or 3 boxes.

How much did they have in stock?

P.S. glad you were able to find some cheap ammo.

They didn't have much maybe 10 boxes when I bought my limit of 2. Usually that price is reserved for the CCI blazer brass so I was a little surprised myself at the 8.97. Call before you go.

The Fun Show at the GRB this weekend had lots of ammo, as long as you didn't mind paying double for most of it. I saw lots of .380 FMJ, none less than $30 for 50, lots of Remington bulk 525 count 22lr, none less than $30 (I've found it at Academy lately for around $15) and lots of other high priced stuff. All I really need at the moment is 44 special, but not at those prices. Gun prices were for the most part ok and the crowd was WAY lighter than since the election. Maybe this scare is over? Maybe credit card limits have been reached?

Here's a suggestion: QUIT buying ammo! - Stop panicking.

After awhile, ammo inventory will stabilize and costs will come down.

But, if you prefer to buy every caliber as soon as it's put out, inventory will remain low and cost high.

Your call...

P.S. I haven't bought any ammo in almost a year. (and no, I'm not sitting on a stash either)
