Either you
were sitting on a stash or you don't shoot much. I'm not a master blaster but I go through a few hundred rounds of .22 LR each week. That's 10-20 thousand rounds in a year and I'm just a casual shooter.

boomerang,
I'm betting you're in the minority.
Most of the panicked set are hoarding...and buying...and hoarding.

Keep it nice guys. This thread is about ammo prices not what anyone is doing with it when they buy it.
Thank you.

Finally the Wal-mart on the Arkansas side of Texarkana had ammo after church on Sunday. They had plenty of .45, 9mm and 40 S&W.

I used to average 300-400 rounds a week of 9mm and 40 S&W. Thanks to the market conditions I am only getting to the range every couple weeks now and only shoot around 200 rounds on each trip. The big problem is that when I find my caliber of choice, I feel compelled to buy as much as I can in anticipation of having trouble finding it. I refuse to get ripped off though. Wally World is the ONLY place that I will buy ammo these days. Everyone else has gotten too high...including academy.
The situation seems to be getting better. I do agree with you though. There are folks buying up ammo as if the second coming of Christ had already happened. Many of them are just sitting on it as they pay high credit card interest for the pleasure.

True story...I was at Wally World and they had some 357 sig. There was a guy who arrived just after me and heard me telling the clerk I didn't need 357 sig. He immediately tells the clerk he will take all 4 boxes(100 count). I have been curious about this caliber so I ask the guy what he thought about it. he told me he didn't know that he had never fired one before. Naturally I asked why he was buying ammo for a gun he didn't have. He said it was just in case he ever bought a handgun in that caliber. I just laughed politely and walked off. I think this silliness is happening a whole lot more than one would imagine.

After awhile, ammo inventory will stabilize and costs will come down.
But, if you prefer to buy every caliber as soon as it's put out, inventory will remain low and cost high.
Your call...
P.S. I haven't bought any ammo in almost a year. (and no, I'm not sitting on a stash either)
Nah sooner or latter folks are going to run out of money and/or room and they will stop hoarding.

Anyone got any leads on .45acp HST's?
Somewhere online would be preferred, but anywhere around Houston also accepted.
Would like to pick up around 200 or so.

I'm seeing the .308, AK and AR stuff at Academy back on the shelfs not behind the counter, I really think we're seeing the last of the hoarding.

I assume your just referring to AK & AR stuff. Try finding .45ACP; Top Gun didn't have any target loads last Friday and I got the last box that Memorial had - an over-priced box of Monarch for $26.99 (50 RD). SD rounds don't seem to be a problem but neither Academy nor Carter's Country has target loads whenever i"m there.
