I mailed my packet in on 1/17 and I am still getting the same message as you today. From what I hear it takes a good 3 to 4 weeks for them to even show that it has been received.
I am still patiently waiting for my 1st update, trying not to check everyday. Ordered my first OWB holster and have been practicing wearing it at home under an un-tucked shirt. I know it will probably still be a while before I get the plastic but I am getting ready. I also went ahead and took the plunge and ordered a Crossbreed Supertuck IWB holster and am patiently waiting for it to come in as well.

Hang in there, I will post when I get my first update.

I am impressed with the quick turn around time.

Was about to put up a whole new thread when I read this.

I sent in for my first renewal; DPS got my stuff on Jan. 31st. Online it still says: License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page.

My timing really sucks with CHL. My first time was when DPS was just slammed and didn't have as many reviewers as they do today. IIRC it took them almost 3 months to get my CHL to me. Now, I'm sure there's a flood of new applicants due to....current (political) events.

At any rate, my current CHL doesn't expire until March so I guess I don't have any reason to worry.

ETA: wow my old CHL timeline is still in my signature...wow. Time to update it...

Aaaaand still waiting for BG to clear. I don't get it. I've got a perfectly clean recors (not even any traffic violations), no tax issues or anything, and I keep seeing everybody else sail past me in the process. It's frustrating. Oh well.

Woo Hoo. Status changed today.... Background check completed, manufacture pending.....

A small update for now, still no acknowledgement on the DPS website that they have received anything from me at all

CHL Class -1/12/13
Application, check and all required paperwork Mailed Certified - 1/17/13
DPS received and signed Mail Receipt - 1/22/13
Check cleared bank - 1/31/13

My updates were all fairly quick after the first wait of 2-3 weeks. I suspect I'll have plastic in hand by Friday if not next Monday. Starting to worry my CHL will arrive before the holster I ordered

I'm right there with you, buddy. Background under review since Jan 24th. It's frustrating and I'll call sometime this afternoon for an update.

Just changed to "manufacturing" today! Hopefully I'll have my plastic by the end of next week

Jan. 24 - Mailed all documents
Jan. 25 - Received by DPS
Jan. 29 - Emailed documents after seeing here that it was an option.
Feb. 6 - Received email confirmation that documents were received."We have received the documents you attached to your email.
These will be forwarded to a specialist for review and/or processing."

I just got my "forwarded to a specialist" email this morning. I attached all to email January 24th. I definitely see a "batch" thing going on here.

Is the backgroud check just criminal?m do they look a credit?

Feb 6, same thing... I am starting to think email may not be any faster.
