It can only be corruption
Don't discount ignorance.

A quote that is often attributed to Einstein says; The difference between genius and stupidity is genius has it's limits.
Dallas county has become heavy Democrat. Some of it may be due to straight ticket voting.
The Texas legislature changed that this past session. No more straight ticket voting.
Maybe not with one button click but there are still a huge number of folks who simply run through the ballot checking anyone with a D by their name. We all know that the hispanic candidate ;-) , Beto, caused democrats to get all excited and show up in droves. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the ballots contained no party affiliation. That would require people actually know something about who it is they vote for.
I think you’re over rating the patience of young people!

The Democrats would accuse you of suppressing voting by requiring some actual thought and knowledge about what you are voting for!
Too many of their voters see the candidates names not as “John Smith - D” but as “John Smith - free$4me”.

True. Smoking weed is what makes them crave the free cheese.

AG Paxton just issued warning to counties and cities confusing recommendations:

Attorney General Ken Paxton today issued letters to three Texas counties (Dallas, Bexar, and Travis) and two mayors (San Antonio and Austin), warning that some requirements in their local public health orders are unlawful and can confuse law-abiding citizens.

Judge Jenkins responds to AG Paxton's letter, saying that he cannot believe that Gov. Abbott didn't want to follow his own orders
