Can the amendments be removed at third reading using another amendment?

HB910 is still on the items for consideration agenda. It was eligible yesterday at 1:40 so it remains eligible.

I'm sure hope it can, the bill has been poisoned and gutted.
Gutted is better than nothing, we work improvements in the future.

Any links for the text of the Amendments that passed? (#1, 5 and 6)?

edited.

Stickland is on there, yall... Just sayin.
Yes, and I didn't hear him yesterday shooting us in the foot so i'll give him credit for that. It will be nice if he learns from this session and gets better.

Do you have a link for the text of the Zerwas Amendment (#1)?
My recollection of the debate last night was that private colleges were left unchanged. There was discussion about "if it's good for public colleges then why not private?", but the House member pushing that argument was doing it as a Bill killer and, ultimately, there was nothing added or deleted last night that affects private colleges.... I'd like to see the text of the Amendment to confirm this...

And...

Just to reset..... Only one amendment was added to SB 11. All other proposed amendments failed.
You can confirm this by checking the Record Votes dated yesterday here: http://www.legis.state.tx.us/BillLookup ... &Bill=SB11" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Amendment 2 (amending Amendment 1) failed, Amendment 1 passed, Amendment 3 was withdrawn, Amendment 4 failed, SB11 passed on second reading.
Wasn't their a latter amendment that was acceptable to the author that was attached without a vote?

Yes... I edited my post above... 2 other amendments added... without a record vote.
Hoping to see the text of all 3 if anyone has links...

That resource shows 1, 5 and 6 as having been adopted.
5 http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/84 ... 011H25.PDF
seems the be the one exempting health-related schools.
6 http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/84 ... 011H26.PDF
appears to be the one requiring private institutions to follow the same rules as public institutions.

All that said, I am dazed, confused, and usually wrong...

Thanks...

FYI.. I was wrong about only 1 amendment... 2 more were added without a record vote.
5 and 6 are linked above this post.

I see SB11 is on the supplemental calendar for third reading whenever they decide to get to it. I could see the order going:
1) local, consent and resolutions calendar,
2) catch up on items eligible for consideration (HB910 concurrence vote?),
3) supplemental calendar where I'm sure they will take up postponed business first (3 bills) and then
4) regular order of bills for third reading which puts 2 more bills ahead of SB11.

Of course this is my speculation based on the sequence of events which occurred yesterday in the house.

Maybe it's just me, but I think ALL votes should be recorded.

Reading Amendment 6... Looks like it changed the bill from "private colleges are still prohibited" to "private colleges can opt out".
I don't have a lot of grief about that, assuming I'm reading it correctly. Probably why it passed without a record vote.

Maybe I'm not reading it correctly?

Here's 411.2031(e): http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/83 ... 00182I.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(e) A private or independent institution of higher
education in this state, after consulting with students, staff, and
faculty of the institution, may establish rules, regulations, or
other provisions prohibiting license holders from carrying
handguns on premises that are owned or leased and operated by the
institution and located on the campus of the institution.

I wonder if the part about "after consulting with students, staff, and faculty..." has any teeth in it. Will students actually get a say? Will staff actually get a say? Or will libtard faculty have all the clout?

It's pretty easy to predict that fear mongering progressivism will win that argument.

When you leave civil liberties decisions to academics, they will never choose to support 2A. It's not in their genetics. Bottom line is that if you want to have 2A rights in any educational environment, the decision MUST be removed from the hands of educators and placed in the hands of legislators and judges.

Assuming campus carry passes in some useful form, it's a good step in the right direction. No law abiding person should disarmed. Predators will never obey any words on any page. It's only "Hope and Change" logic that could ever imagine a positive outcome from disarming the law abiding.
