I hadn't heard of that. I looked it up. It closed in 2003, possibly before the state preemption law was passed.

I live in Keller, North of Ft Worth.
I have been using Bass Pro, Winchester, and Shooters Club.
I like that Shooters Club (NE 28th St.) the best, but it's a bit primitive, though the attitude is friendly.
Last time I took my wife there the ventilation system blew cold air so hard the targets were flapping vigorously. It was truly a moving target. Plus, the range is limited and the lighting too low for my eyes.
So when my son was in town and wanted to go shooting, I decided to try this place:
The Shooting Place
2865 SW Wilshire Blvd.
Burleson, TX. 76028
I was very pleasantly surprised. It was clean, well-lighted, and roomy. The range was very deep, I did not use half of it. they have a good selection of rental guns (P238 Sig!). And the attitude was very customer -friendly.
I talked to the owner(s0, who said they also owned the CTD retail store in North fort Worth. Nice folks. He let me rent the P238 free if I bought his ammo, which was way high.
So this is now my range of choice, even though it's a 34-mile drive each way.
Next on my list is the Haltom City Rifle and Pistol club. Their outdoor range is 4 exits down the highway from work, and on my way home. And I have a bunch of rifles that I've never fired.

I live in Buda and I don’t understand why Cabela’s doesn’t build an indoor range? They have plenty of room in the back of the store/parking lot area.

Downtown Houston...
Just kidding!
For me it's a tossup between Memorial Shooting Center, and a friend's property in Hempstead :)

i like to go to Shiloh indoor range in Houston because its only 15 to 20 minutes away .
plus they don't tell you

if you have the itch to practice your double taps and rapid fire .
in cooler weather Hotwells out door range is great , but they are much more restrictive .

My first post here
American shooting center, Houston. Probably won't be doing that much more as thier rates are going through the roof (membership going from $240 to over $400 per year!).
Did a few rounds down at Top Gun Houston. Nice spot.
Did a few rounds and CHL at Memorial Shooting Center, Houston. Not bad, but I think they need to crank up the air cleaners and add some more sound-proofing (needed to use plugs AND muffs).
Hotwells isn't too far away, but I've not had the chance to go up there.
Am thinking about joining Bayou Rifles once my ASC membership ends.
Once my CHL comes through I'd like to find a place where I can practice draw and fire.
