Now it is starting to get frustrating knowing people that did it at the same time are starting to receive theirs. Just goes to show theres no consistincy in the way they do it. I have lived in Texas all my life and have never been in any kind of trouble.

Still stuck on background check under review.

Maybe you should try looking suspicious in front of a mall, or maybe go roll a stop sign or something and see if that will speed things up a bit!

I'm squeaky clean too and all my buddies who were idiots when they were younger got theirs before me!

I'm not proud.. I made a huge show of pouting around for two solid weeks before I finally recieved my plastic. There was no fanfare for me afterwards, they were just glad I'd finally shut up about it!!

• Background Check : Completed
  Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending

1/1/1996 to 4/15/2011...........Procrastinated taking the CHL class
4/15/2001..........................Registered for the CHL class
4/16/2011..........................Attended CHL class in San Antonio
4/17/2011..........................Passed shooting qualification.
4/18/2011..........................Submitted online CHL Application with Texas DPS. Made fingerprint appointment
4/19/2011 .........................Electronic fingerprints taken. Mailed items to DPS with Delivery Confirmation.
4/20/2011..........................USPS confirms delivery of documents to Texas DPS
4/27/2011..........................Fingerprints rejected by FBI due to unreadable. Rescheduled fingerprinting with L1.
4/28/2011 .........................Second set of electronic fingerprints taken by L1 & submitted to DPS.
5/13/2011..........................1st update on web site: Fingerprints: Complete, Background Check: Under review
5/25/2011 .........................2nd update on web site: Background Check: Completed, CHL: Manufacturing Pending

Now the wait will be unbearable because this Friday is the day before the three-day Memorial Day weekend holiday. I doubt that much work will be done manufacturing the CHL's on the day before a three-day weekend and then processing will not begin again until next Tuesday. So I don't expect to see any CHL's manufactured and mailed until mid to late next week at the earliest. Stand by for more updates as they roll in!!

Went home at lunch to check the mailbox and didn't find any plastic there.

Perhaps tomorrow will be the day. Meanwhile, at least there are some firearm-related shipments coming in today from Amazon:

- Stack On drawer safe for another safe place to put the guns while I'm not in the house

It's been about a week since I checked, but when I went tonight, I'm finally at the background check.

I was out of town last week, but when I checked on Tuesday 5/24/2011, my status had changed to Mailed. So hopefully it will be here soon.

I received my third update from the Texas DPS CHL web site morning, Thursday, 26-May-2011.
My status is now:
...................."Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing"

I went from "Manufacturing Pending" yesterday to "Manufacturing" this morning.
Let's hope I go to "Manufactured" and "Mailed" before the weekend gets here! DPS and the Post Office won't be working this coming Monday due to Memorial Day so that will likely add a day to the wait.

And now I get to apply 10 more hours of patience before I can check the mailbox again ;) Granted, I really don't expect it to be there today, but it sure would be nice.

Same situation for me. I live about 50 miles from Austin. I could see mine Saturday, but I am banking on TUES. Even if the P.O. doesn't deliver, it will still move during the weekend. I will be on the lake all weekend...I need a MAJOR distraction..lol

I'm from the next town up from Austin, so I'm hoping that today or tomorrow there'll be something in the mailbox.

If not, I'll be busy barbecuing at the house and shooting at the range. I've been wanting to shoot some of the other ammo I've got in my boxes -- .22LR, .380, .357 Sig, .45ACP. Here lately, I've just been firing 9mm and .40 S&W, since that's what's readily available at a good price around here.

Good luck to the fellow April Team members! Is there a pool for this bunch? I'd buy a few squares if there are some still available
