And now it's in hand -- postmarked the 26th, in hand on the 28th.

One really odd thing: On the 26th I got a form letter from DPS saying that they hadn't gotten my fingerprints. I called on the 27th, and explained the letter and that the website 'status' said all was well with my application. The guy on the other end laughed and said not to worry, every so often 'the system' burps out a letter like that for no apparent reason anybody can figure out. I laughed right along with him, because I figured that was the case, but you can never be too sure . . ..

So now I'll be off for my first foray with a new item of apparel.

I thought I would remember my DL# forever after typing it in 10 times a day for two months, but no, I had to take it out and look at it yesterday. I guess my little pea-brain only retains what it absolutely needs to at any given time.

Well I got my first update, only to find that my Proficiency Training was listed as "Not Recieved" because the instructor did not fully complete the form. See my post under the General Texas CHL Discussion for the details.

Hello all new guy here from Houston. Nice forum you guys have on here I am looking forwards to reading all the vast info on here.

Sent out my application on October 4th and on November 1st it was all completed and now I am waiting for my plastic to hopefully get here tomorrow. The process was very fast considering from what I have heard from personal friends of mine with CHL's.

Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Completed
Concealed Handgun License : Mailed

October 27, 2011 - Application 'Received' by DPS

Another update this morning. Happened sometime between 5:00 - 6:45 am. I am getting closer!

November 4, 2011 - Manufacturing Pending

Got it today. Oct 10 to Nov 4, 25 days. No trip to the range, no trip to FAST. $70 and five years. I noticed it looks a lot like the new DL's...I see a lot more surprised tellers and clerks in the future.

We must be in the same batch, mine changed status today also... Hopefully it won't take much longer for the plastic to be manufactured and mailed.

Lucky guys!!! Mine has been "under review" since 10/26. Not to mention that my friend that mailed hers 5 days after I mailed mine said yesterday that hers was "mailed"!! Her bg check and manufacturing took two days!!!
