From what I seem to be reading, he didn't use the rifle, at least not at the school. It was discovered inside of the vehicle by law enforcement. Two handguns were used.

I despise Obama. Can't stand him. Hate what he's doing to my country. I just viewed his speech, and I disagree with you. I think it did affect him. I think he was visibly upset and had to gather his composure more than once before continuing.

After Portland, Colorado, Arizona, etc, you would think a well to do County like this would have put armed guards in place to protect these innocents from today's violence! But their attitude was "it could never happen here", well that changed today!

The next evil person is looking at this with the idea of how can I top this!
The Israelis armed and trained their teachers after a massacre in 1970 and have no school attacked since.

I agree w/ baldeagle here... it definitely affected him. His speech was a good one too... and like baldeagle, I despise him as well, so this is impartial.

My fear is that it definitely moved him... which will move him the wrong way and we'll see an all-out assault on our liberty very soon.

I've played a LOT of "shooter" games on the computer. Hundreds of zombies, henchmen, bandits and mercenaries have fallen to my pixelated firearms over the years. But I simply cannot fathom a situation where I would ever think to do something so vile to little children. It takes a LOT more than playing some video games to get someone to commit such a vile and vicious crime.
When I was a kid, I played a computer game where you actually got points for running over people (children were more points). I don't even think they make video games where you can run over people. Even in Grand Theft Auto, you can't run people over! It's definitely not the video games, they haven't given me any urge to kill people.
And my brother had sex with hookers all his life and for some odd reason he has no respect for woman and has been married 3 times....but thousands of people have sex with hookers with no problems... go figure.
Any way you want to rationalize it we are a product of our environment

It's not hard to figure out what's going on. There are any number of aphorisms that describe the wisdom man has accumulated over time. The one that comes to mind to me to describe America today is if you lie down with pigs, you'll get some on ya. Not everyone will be affected the same way. Some won't even notice the odor. Others will never be able to get it out of their minds.

America today is like a big pig sty. It affects us all but some notice it more than others. You get used to the odor after a while, and so it no longer bothers you so much.

So people have sex on their first "date" in the movies, and some are not even bothered by it. A politician takes bribes and many shrug their shoulders and say they're all crooks, what are you gonna do? Kicking him out of office never enters their thoughts. A woman has children with seven different men and draws welfare for each of them, and more people are concerned that her checks come on time than the damage it does to the psyche of our society.

Why are we seeing more and more of these mass shootings? Because our society has been in the pig sty for so long that it's beginning to seem normal to some. Pigs will eat anything, including other pigs.

I apologize for my comments after watching his speech again. I do agree he was moved and there were tears. I am not accusing him of not caring at all. He was, however, more visibly moved in the other speech I described. With retrospect, I can imagine he felt it more important to control himself for this speech. Like so many of us, I am having a hard time grasping the terrible nature of all this. I just don't want it to be used to forward a political agenda that doesn't really make anyone safer. It definitely will galvanize him to try to increase gun laws whether they make sense or not.

For comparison, here is a youtube vid of his speech to his campaign team starting at about 3.30 minutes in the recording:

I wonder what was in his medicine cabinet. I think THAT is where the dialogue should lie. We tamper with the chemistry of the brain, stuffing it with antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds and knowing it could cause suicidal and homicidal breaks (thus the label warnings). Then when it happens, again, and again we talk about the gun laws and availability of the weapons.

Good points. The most recent things I am reading is reports from people who knew him that there was obvious mental issues and the mom was considered to be a very "rigid" person. Whatever that means. It is amazing how much misinformation has been rampant from the start of this. I saw initial reports that a neighbor said Adam had Aspergers. Now it may be some other mental difficulty. The label has little value. The actions define him as psychotic however he got there. The possibility of pharmacology being a possible trigger is one I hope is brought to light if it exists. The message these days is whatever is wrong with you, just take a pill and your problems are solved. If not, then you obviously need more pills. The reality is sometimes psychiatric medication helps and sometimes it just becomes another problem.

yea he was affected, he now has carte blanch to begin that gun ban crusade, those were tears of joy, also he was flying that bird real well during the wiping off of said tears, ask any body language expert he was telling the american public he couldn't care less about what happened, just that now he has a way to further his antigun agenda.

Connecticut has very restrictive gun laws, more gun laws would NOT solve the problem. Mental health care and early detection of sign of mass-murderer in the making is the key for the solution. That freak killed his mom and stole here firearms. Where those firearms easily accessible or locked in a safe? Where mom careful enough to secure her firearms from deranged young man?

No to Gun Free Zones! Let us make it our right to carry where LEO can carry. Anywhere I can excluding secured areas where my sidearms can be safely stowed.

Were they in a safe and he got the combination or were they not secured? I am sure this will be the subject of further discussion in the days ahead. One report was given of a former neighbor who said Adam had Asperger's and OCD. She also reported the mom was a good mom, but very restrictive and Adam was sometimes rebellious against that.
