Yes. You could always not top off your magazine after loading one in the chamber and thereby greatly reduce your risk of a failure to feed while in a life or death situation.richardcordrey wrote:Is there any other option?
Or you could get a Glock and not worry about FTFs.HoosierTexan wrote:Yes. You could always not top off your magazine after loading one in the chamber and thereby greatly reduce your risk of a failure to feed while in a life or death situation.richardcordrey wrote:Is there any other option?
It's your life, you do what you want. I will, however, play the odds on this one.
I carry m&p which is basically the same gun internally, and I still would not do it.jmra wrote:Or you could get a Glock and not worry about FTFs.HoosierTexan wrote:Yes. Only in 9mm - like any self-respecting gun owner would carry a 9mm.HoosierTexan wrote:I carry m&p which is basically the same gun internally, and I still would not do it.jmra wrote:Or you could get a Glock and not worry about FTFs.HoosierTexan wrote:Yes. Glocks are by far, overrated. Gen 4's have several documented FTF's btw.
I guess I'm not a self-respecting gun owner...jmra wrote:Only in 9mm - like any self-respecting gun owner would carry a 9mm.HoosierTexan wrote:I carry m&p which is basically the same gun internally, and I still would not do it.jmra wrote:Or you could get a Glock and not worry about FTFs.HoosierTexan wrote:Yes. After 7 pages or so, I'm starting to wonder if this is a 'trick' question?Oldgringo wrote:Who carries their gun with a full mag +1?
I do - cocked and locked. Why, what's the problem?
I got your back. Just let me unlock my consol, load a magazine, insert it, and after yelling "all clear' rack the slide.Oldgringo wrote:After 7 pages or so, I'm starting to wonder if this is a 'trick' question?Oldgringo wrote:Who carries their gun with a full mag +1?

I must confess that I do not carry a bandolier or any stun grenades, etc., so if any of y'all see me in any gun battle lasting more than a half dozen rounds, I'd be obliged if you'd kinda' help out the Oldgringo so that he could become the really Oldgringo.
I don't think that you will get heck for it...I understand that many people aren't comfortable using equipment the way it way designed to be used.myntalfloss wrote:Well, somebody's got to be different.
When I'm carrying the LCP, obviously it's a full load, but in my PX4, I carry 15 in a 17 round mag + 1 in the chamber. My rationale is FTF and mag spring wear.
Yes, I do know I'm going to heck for this.
Passive-aggressive much?jmra wrote:I don't think that you will get heck for it...I understand that many people aren't comfortable using equipment the way it way designed to be used.myntalfloss wrote:Well, somebody's got to be different.

Nothing wrong with a sports car 50mph down a straight road.
I like it... You don't mean you don't look for an opportunity to legally make that 0-60 run in 3.3? :-)myntalfloss wrote: Using your sports car anology, my current motorcycle (ST1300) has a 160mph speedometer. While I've been near the top of that, I don't routinely operate in that environment and it's a rare occasion that I'll utilize the 3.3 sec, 0-60 capability. I have however taken the anti-lock brakes to the max. (Thanks, distracted drivers!)
