For concealed carry what size 1911 do you carry?

I checked Commander, though my Champion is 1/4" shorter at 4.0". That is my normal carry gun. I have also carried full size 5 inchers and my P-12. It depends on how I'm dressed and other things. Like I said, normal carry is the Champ.

I carry both Commander and Government model so I guess I have to vote twice.

Whenever I get around to getting a 1911 (and it is on the list, just a bit farther down at the moment :grin:) it's going to be a 4" or a Commander. I've decided that's the best size for me, since I'm thoroughly a fan of compacts in virtually any make and style.

I only own one 1911 and it is an officers, so that was my vote!

My normal CHL gun is a compact (officer/definder sized) 1911. I am currently carrying a mil-spec government sized until my compact comes back from the shop and I re-confirm its operation.

I've always been partial to a "Commander 4"-4 1/4" gun. If fact, I have never owned a Govt. model.

Another reason I like my P-13 (besides the hi-cap and Commander length) is it's shortened frame (the grip is not full length). The butt of the gun is toughest part to conceal IMO.

I couldn't vote either. I needed a "Never touch the stuff" selection

I carry my Champion (Commander length) when I can hide it.
Otherwise, it's the Bersa Thunder.

I guess I'm old school. If it isn't a Government sized 1911 then it isn't a true 1911.

I believe the Kimber Compact II is Officer sized. So many folks have used so many different terms on me, I've become confoosed. At any rate, it's a 4inch barrel, a hoot to shoot, and my favorite carry weapon. The HK P2 SK has been a little lonely this summer.

Kimber is actually pretty consistant with they're names. Here's the way it brakes down (to the best of my knowledge):

Custom = full size grip w/ 5" barrel

Pro = Full size grip w/ 4" barrel

Compact = shortened/officers sized grip w/ 4" barrel

Ultra = shortened/officers sized grip w/ 3" barrel

Example: Pro Raptor II. Only the word PRO describes the size. "Raptor" is the model name and II indicates it has a firing pin safety.

Also, "Commander" is a COLT name and has a 4.25" barrel. "Champion" is a Springfield Armory name and has a 4" barrel.
