Apparently had a hard home life.

Left class mid period, returned with AR rifle, but door was locked and no one would open the door to him once they saw the rifle, so he shot up a classroom with an open door.

When police questioned family earlier after he made threats to shoot up school, dad admitted he had hunting rifles but they were supposedly not accessible to the 13 yo son.

NOTE: There is no evidence (yet or, at least, publicly available) that the father allowed the son unrestricted\unsupervised access to the gun(s) in the home. Absent such evidence, I don't see how they can even charge the father, much less get a conviction.

While I hate the FBI, let's put the blame where it belongs. In this case, there is no evidence the FBI ever knew the name of the suspect or had him on their radar. They received an anonymous tip and passed it to the county sheriff, as per their protocol. The county SO is where he was identified and then talked to, with his father. The failure might be the SO's fault, or even not a failure. The SO said there was not enough evidence to do anything and they might have been right.

According to that link, they charged the father but they haven't even confirmed that the firearm the kid used was one that was bought for him by the dad. And they STILL haven't said anything about whether the father did or did not allow him unrestricted\unsupervised access to the rifle.

However, what is considered illegal speech changes, and rapidly it seems. The F word is illegal, not that F word the other one, its shorter.

In 2008, I was at a conference, where they wanted to know where your sexuality resided in their registration form ( a very large well know organization who you know) They had S, G, L and T. I had no idea what T even stood for. So I asked. How quickly things have changed.

The next time I'm presented with the alphabet and asked which fantasy category I fall into, I'm tempted to say it's not on the list - and it's secret.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt I suppose, but there were failures in this case. I know the SO was informed and spoke to the father and the boy, so if the FBI didn't identify him how did the sheriff know who to go see?
The mother phoned the school an hour before the shooting began. A ten minute phone call according to one report I saw. I do not know what actions the school took if any what the timeline was is they did act.
