Glockmeisters and Glockheads...Question?

I'm a huge Glock fan. Its what I carry, and have yet to have one solitary malfunction after over 4000 rounds in my 26 and about twice that in my 17. That being said, I have come across a baffling question.
First of all, I'm a Private Investigator by trade, and specialize in very difficult Repossessions. A lot of my day is spent in the Wards and inner city, so I'm pretty well armed, G17 on my hip and G26 on my ankle, with two spare mags on my belt. I carry Black Talons in them both. I started thinking about it the other day, and Heaven forbid that I actually am forced to pull and shoot someone, but if I do, its most likely going to be in a very urban environment. I've been very concerned that the velocity of the bullet in a 9mm is too great to be in such a crowded environment, so I've already dedicated to swapping out for .45's. My question is, why in living heck doesn't Glock make a COMPACT .45?? They make a service model, a subcompact, and a single stack subcompact, which is a lot of boom for a little gun. The Compact would be perfect, but they simply don't have one. WHY????
Secondly, Beretta, Springfield, M&P, and everyone else are now producing their polymer lines with adjustable backstraps. Every woman that has come into the shop to test guns feels the Glock, but ultimately opts for something with narrower grips. Is Glock just stubborn, or what???
We also get guys in here that won't buy a Glock because it's Hot and meant to be carried that way, with no external safety. I've heard rumors that the new generation pistols are going to have an external safety. Anyone confirm this or am I making stuff up again?

Those haven't been made for a LONG time - I'd swap out the Black Talons for fresher ammo. I started thinking about it the other day, and Heaven forbid that I actually am forced to pull and shoot someone, but if I do, its most likely going to be in a very urban environment. I've been very concerned that the velocity of the bullet in a 9mm is too great to be in such a crowded environment, The higher velocity helps ensure expansion. I don't see the "high" velocity of a 9mm JHP is any problem in an urban environment. so I've already dedicated to swapping out for .45's. A manual safety on a Glock makes about as much sense as the lock on the side of an S&W revolver - no useful purpose whatsoever, and it adds an additonal failure mode.

I agree with Hank. Go ahead and shoot up those Black Talons and find you some Winchester Ranger SXT's which was Winchester's replacement for the Talons. We joke that SXT stands for Same Xact Thing. ;)
You might take a look at the Springfield XD .45s.
Be safe down there.

If you want .45 ACP size holes at .45 ACP velocities in a g26/g19/g17 size frame look at the g37/g38/g39 in the .45 GAP. If you like the Black Talons get some Ranger SXT and shoot up that older ammo.

"why doesn't glock make a compact .45?"
They do....and it's been around for a long time......It's the Glock 30.
10 round mag and will take Glock 21 Highcap mags as well.
10+1 in the pipe hidden in an IWB holster and a G-21 thirteen round mag for reloads. 230 gr Hydroshocks or 230 gr Corbon hollowpoints and the problem is solved.
If you think that the G-30 is a little big (it's not like the 21), get a grip reduction done. (can add a magwell at the same time)

I can definately confirm that it is a rumor... whether it's true or not remains to be seen. The rumors about a safety have been going on for years, and I won't believe anything until I see it with my own eyes. If and when Glock puts a safety on their guns, it will have to be an option or they will lose a lot of customers.

Thanks for the input, fellas!!
I couldn't agree more about the safety on the Glock. Its usually the newbie shooters that have that external safety mindset. They must be trained... although that's kind of hard when my Old Man, who owns the gunshop/range, is a diehard M&P guy, and my little brother, who runs the store, is a Sig-fanatic.

Sometimes its us old veterans that have been hit over the head by DIs to litterally drive the point home.
Having had the point hammered home in Hunter safety courses, and with Uncle having that safety would be awfully hard to break. Being told and understanding that its alright is still different than being comfortable. I suppose If we had to we could successfuly carry Glocks and other handguns without a safety. Fortunately there we don't have to there are lots of nice guns with DA/SA and clickable safetys.

Are you saying the G30 is too small?

Compact

GLOCK makes three compact size 45s. The G30 is called a subcompact, but in actuality, it is a compact-size pistol. It is almost the same size as a G19/23/32, except slightly wider. Same with the G36, except slimmer. The G38 is a compact. I carry a G30 frequently and it is an excellent all-around pistol. Accurate, reliable, plenty of boompower, low recoil, sufficient capacity. Extra G21 mags.
I understand the G30 SF will be hitting the market around January 08. The product ID is already in the system.

How about the Glock 21 SF? it has a thinner grip, full Picatinny rail, and ambi mag release.

Eh? Last time I was in the store, your "little brother" (isn't he taller than you?

) was carrying a G17.

Hahaha. Very funny! That was MY G17 that he was carrying. His Sig P226 was at the gunsmith... hmmm.... "His GUN was at the GUNSMITH..." as in GETTING FIXED... I think I just won the arguement between Glock and Sig, check the scoreboard:
Sig P226: 3-4K rounds, Times in shop: ONE LONG ONE
Glock 17: 7-8K rounds, Times in shop: ZERO
Holy jiminychristmas, I can't imagine what kind of wasp's nest I just whacked with a stick! Just a joke, Sig guys.
