Brady Campaign Desparate & Energized

Here is a copy of an email I received from the Brady Campaign. As usual, it's full of lies and half-truths, but we've all come to expect that from these people who are devoid of intellectual honesty. They are in a near panic state and they are energized. The Heller decision will be used in membership drives and donation solicitations and we had better be as aggressive getting new members and getting our message to the vast majority of Americans who are neither NRA members nor members of the Brady Campaign. They are the true "swing voters" and they are massive in number!

Also, take a look at their web page for signing up to get their email alerts. Pay particular attention to paragraph number 3 that lists their "Outreach" areas. With Soros' money and other big donors like the Joyce Foundation, they have the financial horsepower to make inroads with these groups. It is critical that we counter their influence with the truth.

Join the NRA -- Join TSRA -- and do it now!!! If you are already a member, donate to the cause. Yes, we all get letters and some get phone calls, but the Heller decision is the direct result of years of work by the NRA getting the right people elected as President and in Senate seats so the right people would be appointed to the Supreme Court. It's also the result of the result of almost 30 years of work by the NRA in sponsoring honest, in-depth, scholarly work by constitutional experts in the area of the Second Amendment so that the Supreme Court would have these authoritative writings upon which to base it's well-considered, well-documented opinion in Heller. All this effort took hundreds of millions of dollars and the majority of it came from people committed to the Second Amendment who wrote the $10, $25 and $100 checks to the NRA and to the NRA/ILA. So while the frequency of letters and some phone calls may be somewhat irritating in the short run, please take a few moments to seriously consider the huge victory we just won as a result of those fund-raising efforts. We have just one a huge battle, but the war isn't over. We have to expand the holding of Heller to the states, we have to expand it to areas outside the home, and we have to address various action-types (semi-auto, etc.).

Revel in our victory, but stay in the fight. You can bet the Bradys are planning a counter-attack.

Brady Campaign Lies wrote:“We’re not done yet. The NRA is going to see to it that every American has equal access to guns . . . This monumental decision is just the opening salvo.

- Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President, National Rifle Association

Dear ********,

The gun lobby wasted no time.

Just as we suspected, the National Rifle Association has filed its first lawsuit using the Supreme Court’s new interpretation of the Second Amendment to attack gun laws.

Within minutes of the decision, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre announced a challenge to gun laws in San Francisco and Chicago.

The Brady Center needs your help now. We cannot let the gun lobby get even one step ahead of our efforts to defend gun laws.

Have no doubt, there will be more attacks on gun laws. As Mr. LaPierre said, “this is the opening salvo. The NRA is pushing more guns, in more places, in the hands of more people. We disagree. We should do all that we can to keep dangerous guns out of the hands of dangerous people.

If you have not yet made a gift to the Brady Gun Law Defense Fund — or if you can make an additional gift — I urge you to do so today.

We have our work cut out for us, but I know we can beat the gun lobby in court. All nine Justices agreed that most gun laws should be found constitutional — like laws banning guns in schools, laws that regulate the sales of guns, and bans on “dangerous and unusual weapons.

We have common sense on our side. And, with the Brady Center’s legal expertise and years of experience, we can and will help defend gun laws that protect you, your family and your community.

Thank you for your support today.

Sincerely,

Sarah Brady, Chair

P.S. The gun lobby won’t stop with San Francisco and Chicago. According to one gun lobby spokesperson, the next targets could be New York and Detroit. Please support the Brady Gun Law Defense Fund today.

The fight is not over, and I agree with your assessment. The losses that they have suffered over the last few weeks, will indeed motivate them to try much harder, while the wins that we have gained will make some on our side relax.

It was the small losses that we allowed to slip by that continued to snowball that got us where we are today. We must remain vigilant.

I'm sitting here, having lunch at my desk, and glancing at the Forum. I read Charles's post, visit https://secure.nraila.org/Contribute.aspx, and in less than two minutes have made a new contribution to the NRA-ILA. Quick and painless.

The day after tomorrow we celebrate our Nation's independence. I think one great way to do so is to make a contribution to the NRA-ILA or TSRA PAC...or both. Doesn't have to be much; you don't need oodles of discretionary income to make a difference. It's a numbers thing: if a lot of people give a little bit, it's just as good--maybe better--than a few, like George Soros and the Joyce Foundation, giving a lot.

It strikes me that this is a great week to ante up a bit for the cause. I gave a little to the NRA-ILA last May, but the juxtaposition of the Heller decision, the anti's new angst ;-) , and the Fourth of July all happening at the same time...well, puttin' a few more pennies in the coffer does my heart a lot more good than buying a cold longneck for the 4th...

NRA memberships http://membership.nrahq.org/

TSRA memberships http://www.tsra.com/?p=page&id=60

I agree with Charles and hope everyone will be asking those we know to join. Our friends and family may think they are NRA members and or not. "Where is your card" or "What magazine do you get each month", is the question to ask to know if they are really members. They may be shocked to learn the are not members.

If your friends or family cannot afford a membership we should ask to divide the cost or pay ourselves if we can. It is that important to me and something I am doing. I will manage without a trip to the range if I can insure all Americans civil rights are retained and regained. We cannot depend on politicians to do the right thing. It is our numbers and our money that will make them move to save our God given (natural) rights. We are the generation that will either save or lose our progeny the ability to keep and bear arms.

A list of NRA programs are available here http://nranews.com/nranews.aspx by clicking "Explore The NRA" at the right of the screen. All their internet transactions are secure.

And does your membership start when payment in full or what?

EPL Life Membership $1,000.00
(40 payments of $25)

I mean its $1000 bucks but at $25 in 40 payments...I spend more money on that for cable TV, this would make me a member of the NRA for life...I just need more info

Plus at $25, I can sneak it by the misses even easier..heh

Ah heck..just emailed em..Ill post their reply here

From the NRA website:
Easy Pay Life (EPL) - Pay $25.00 today and the NRA will mail you a quarterly invoice until the total dues are paid. Your membership status will be upgraded to Life Member when the balance is paid in full.

$25 a quarter for 10 years. Sometimes you can get discounts of several hundred dollars, but you may lose the ability to pay it out in those deals.

I received an offer from the NRA to upgrade to Life Member for $600.00 ( a $400.00 discount). It included the EPL at $25.00 a quarter.
I just mailed it off, Hopefully I can pay it off quicker, maybe a couple of years. :patriot:

Brady Campaign Lies wrote: We should do all that we can to keep dangerous guns out of the hands of dangerous people.
That really made me laugh. I'm not sure how they can use that statement to justify what they do. I suppose they think anyone who would protect their family or safeguard their home qualifies as "dangerous." The Bradys really corrupted the meaning of that statement. In fact, if you remove the phrase "dangerous" guns, that could have been written by the NRA. I think everyone strives to keep felons and other criminals from owning guns. Too bad the Brady campaign has defined all guns as "dangerous" and everyone who would own one as a "dangerous" person. I do enjoy watching them scramble, though. Hopefully those lawsuits in Chicago and San Fransisco will be won also.

Whenever they say such things we should just suggest the following (both seriously and to point out that they are after the guns not the CRIMINALS):
  • Felons and others who lose gun rights have their DL or other ID stamped with FELON, or FELON ON PAROLE, MENTALLY INCOMPETENT, etc
  • Whenever someone loses RKBA through due process (crimes, crazy) they should also lose (most) 4th Amendment protections since if they cannot be trusted with a firearm they cannot be trustest to obey this rule

Finally signed up for both memberships. I don't know why I put it off for so long.

I have been rereading this paragraph for a week now. This is sheer poetry. It is the concluding paragraph from DC v. Heller.

We are aware of the problem of handgun violence in this
country, and we take seriously the concerns raised by the
many amici who believe that prohibition of handgun
ownership is a solution. The Constitution leaves the
District of Columbia a variety of tools for combating that
problem, including some measures regulating handguns,
see supra, at 54–55, and n. 26. But the enshrinement of
constitutional rights necessarily takes certain policy
choices off the table. These include the absolute prohibition
of handguns held and used for self-defense in the
home. Undoubtedly some think that the Second Amendment
is outmoded in a society where our standing army is
the pride of our Nation, where well-trained police forces
provide personal security, and where gun violence is a
serious problem. That is perhaps debatable, but what is
not debatable is that it is not the role of this Court to
pronounce the Second Amendment extinct.
We affirm the judgment of the Court of Appeals.
It is so ordered.

Since when do the police forces provide personal security? This very USSC said they have no duty for citizen protection.
