This may have been asked and answered, but my search did not turn it up. I and the wife (both CHL holders) are going to St. Charles and checking in the Laberge Du LAc Hotel Casino. I know I can not carry in the Casino, but do not know about the situation with the hotel. If it is like the ones in Vegas, you must walk through the Casino to check in.

Does anyone know if you can check in with your weapon concealed, put it in the room or the car and then go gamble, or do I just leave it in the car.

You can check in and go straight to the hotel with out going through the Casino you just have to walk around.. I believe this is true of all Louisiana Casinos.

Make sure you go to Lake Charles, not St. Charles. St. Charles is either a city west of Chicago or the street in New Orleans with the famous street cars running in between the divided lanes.

Actually, St. Charles is also a city west of St. Louis, and they DO have a casino there.

To answer the original question, there is an entrance to the hotels that does not require entrance through the casino. They have to allow those under 21 access via another route since they legally can't be in the casino.

As for the hotel being posted, not sure.

So here we were, a bunch of Arkiesaw bumpkins, trying to navigate St. Louis, when we find ourselves headed across the river. I still remember the sense of urgency Mom and Dad had when they realized we couldn't turn around until we were already in Illinois.

Someday before we die, I'll have to take my beloved to see a Cubs game at Wrigley Field (and she'll have to suffer through a Cards game at Busch. ) Other than that, I never lost anything in Illinois, so I don't have any reason to go there looking.

courtroom;
· A polling place;
· A meeting place of the governing authority of a political subdivision;
· The state capitol building;
· Any portion of an airport facility where the carrying of firearms is prohibited under federal law,
except that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, if
the firearm is encased for shipment, for the purpose of checking such firearm as lawful
baggage;
· Any church, synagogue, mosque or similar place of worship;
· A parade or demonstration for which a permit is issued by a governmental entity;
· Any portion of the permitted area of an establishment that has been granted a Class AGeneral
retail permit, as defined in Part II of Chapter 1 or Part II of Chapter 2 of Title 26 of the
Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the
premises.
· Any school "firearm free zone" as defined in R.S. 14:95.6. Additionally, property owners,

I recall going to Louisiana a few years ago, and we stopped in Lake Charles and poked into one of the Casinos there, and it was posted with one of their own signs prohibiting the carrying of a firearm in the Casino...

I would have to dig a little deeper into Louisiana law, but I would summize it is probably frowned upon to carry a firearm in one of their casinos...It may be defined in the law better than this has been, and may not require any notification or posting...

Thats just my knee-jerk reaction, but then again, I only gave it a passing thought, as the "casino" was on a riverboat and it could only operate as a casino while underway...Which may bring some sort of Coast Guard thing into it...

"57Coastie" may know the applicable Coast Guard regulation...

Its always been amazing to me that we have reciprocity with Louisiana at all...And they were one of the first states to work that out with us...

The Riverboats in Louisiana rarely "cruise" anymore. Carrying in the casino's is forbidden not because they are casinos, but because virtually all of them serve alcohol and and therefore are a "class A" establishment.

A Class A license is for establishments that server alcohol for on premises consumption, that only allow adults. That's their way to define bars while not outlawing restaurants for carrying.

The boats and the casino areas at horse race tracks don't allow minors, hence my guess is that they'll have a Class A license. There are clear borders within the premise between the general area and the gambling areas so that minors can be in the hotels and restaurants, but not in the gambling areas. You can carry all day long in the food courts, hotel lobby, etc., but basically wherever you see personnel that are carding for age, you can't carry. IANAL, and I'm not a resident of Lousiana but that's the way I treat it when I'm there.

My wife's from Vinton, I've been to these places more than I care to know even though I don't gamble.
