Let my CHL expire now I'm doing it all over again

I got my CHL when the law originally went into effect. I was lucky then and got a full four years term for the license (some licenses were good for only 2 years before needing renewal.) It expired in 2000 and I didn't renew. I don't know; I just procrastinated too long in finding a renewal class and I never really carried anyway. I mostly just kept my revolver in my car.

Now I want my CHL back. I have to do it just like a NEW license. I went online and tried to request an application. When I entered my personal information the DPS site came back and said I needed to enter my PIN to go further. I guess this came back from my previous CHL. It's been eight years; I don't remember any PIN. I closed the CHL licensing webpage. So, I go to the local DPS office and ask for a CHL application. The clerk hands me a postcard to fill out and mail to Austin. I do this and got an application packet back in the mail with no reference to that PIN I was talking about. I have the application number and I'm going to use that as a PIN from this point forward until they tell me what my PIN really is.

Just took the new CHL license class yesterday and I'm about ready to mail it to Austin.
