Taco Cabana... Revisited.

Was in Taco Cabana in Austin on S. MoPac @ Wm. Cannon this afternoon. They had the typical "unlicensed possession" sign but it said "weapon" not "firearm". It was a TABC official sign. I guess I don't have a license for my knife, so I suppose I was in violation.. Oops.
No 30.06 sign, but right next to the first sign was another that read "NOTICE - This establishment does not allow the possession of a weapon on these premises." and then the same msg in Spanish. At the bottom it said "Guest Relations 1-800-580-8668".
*shrug*
I do not believe the 2nd sign is an official 30.06, as it does not contain the correct verbiage (far from it) but nonetheless, it seems they are still displeased with concealed firearm licensees..
Oh well, tough luck.

Your belief is correct, if it does not meet the requirements (i.e. 1 Inch lettering, exact verbiage, both languages, etc), and from your post it clearly does not, it is not an official sign. making 30.06 unenforceable.

OK, thanks for confirming. What do you think about the use of the term "weapon" vs. "firearm"? I mean, what about my knife, which is perfectly legal to carry in Austin (not San Antonio though, from what I hear)... ???
I'm thinking these signs are just trying to back some laws which don't actually apply in any cases. So does this mean I am still in violation? I mean, it is their establishment, and if they tell me to leave with my unlicensed knife (via a sign) and I don't, then......... ???

Keep in mind IANAL, my opinion (which is what I gather from reading the law) there is no statute (as long as the knife comlies with state and local law) that you could violate other than trespass, and that would only come if they asked you to leave and you didnt and then they called a LEO. I am pretty sure that even if a LEO came out, he would give you notice to leave and not come back and if you did, then you could be charged. But as far as just ignoring the sign, no violation of law comes to mind. 30.06 only applies to a CHL Holder if they are carrying a firearm. I would carry it.
Yes San Antonio has some weird knife laws, some weird long gun laws to (cant carry loaded rifle/shotgun in city limits), to tricky I stick to the preemtion protection and just carry a handgun, and soon to be a BHG too

Went to Taco Cabana in Cedar Park (183 &1431) last week. Diligently searched for a sign, and none found. Are these franchised locations????

I was in the lewisville Taco Cabana on 35 this weekend. I eat there for breakfast most weekends. and their poor excuse for a 30.06 sign is gone. In the past every time I would go in, I would point them out to my wife as they were posted on both doors. this time my wife pointed out to me they were gone

. I was surprised to see that. maybe they have gotten the message. we will see.

The sign (not a 30.06 sign) at the 1431 & 183 location is on your left on a bulletin board of sorts, after you walk in when you are standing at the counter to order.
It has generic "guns are prohibited" language but is not a 30.06 compliant sign by any stretch. Apparently it is not clearly visible either.
