Dollars lining up for 'civilian national security force'?
Report cites Frank's proposal to cut military 25%

President-elect Barack Obama raised questions during an election campaign stop in Colorado Springs when he asserted the U.S. needs a "civilian national security force" that would be as powerful, strong and well-funded as the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force, but few of those questions have been answered.
But now one report is proposing a possible solution for part of the equation: From where would the money for such an organization come? Democrats in Congress now are floating the idea of cutting U.S. military spending by 25 percent, or $150 billion a year, and according to a report from blogger Jay Tea, that could be used for the new "security force."
The idea to cut the military, proposed by Rep. Barney Frank, already is being opposed by Republicans.

This proposed program is a travesty.
"Brown Shirts" is exactly what they are.

Man, they dont even have control yet and already talking about cutting, Hmmm.......I thought deployments were bad now (in last 4 years I have been gone 21months, every other Christmas). Reminds me of the days of the Clinton 0.09% pay raises (even though I was't in the AF then).......Yet another reason why i am on my way to HPD...at least they pay overtime. Hopefully I will be able to induce an influx of pro CHL mentality when I get there, don't want to change the world, just some opinions.

Stazi.
Betcha a shiny nickel that part of the "sacrifice and shared responsibility" of the Unicorn Rainbow platform is mandatory service for x months or years in this thing.
Remember "service" is from the latin "servus" which means SLAVE.

His new website, change.org, has the following:
Expand to Meet Military Needs on the Ground: Barack Obama and Joe Biden support plans to increase the size of the Army by 65,000 soldiers and the Marines by 27,000 troops. Increasing our end strength will help units retrain and re-equip properly between deployments and decrease the strain on military families.
I guess the cuts wouldn't come from troops. This is confusing to me... If he "brings the troops home, they would be "between deployments", yet the size would increase? Guess it doesn't hurt to increase the size of the military, but what is going to be cut?

I would expect more of that mentality, that's for sure. I was in during the Clinton mistake and Iremember that he once confused reporters by saying that he wnated military members pay to be more inline with thier civilian counterparts. Several reporters later wrote how confused they were by this statement because after several years of miniscule pay increases the military was so far off the civilian scale that it would have taken an increase in the 20% range to even get close. The joke was that it would be more likely that he would try to lower civilian pay.
I had the opportunity to shake his hand twice but CIC or not, I couldn't bring myself to do it.

"Germany became a nation of snoops. People were employed in each street, in each building complex etc. with the sole purpose of keeping an eye on others in their 'area' and reporting them to the authorities if they believed that something was amiss. The reputation of the Nazi police and the secret police lead by Himmler was such that no-one wished to cause offense. People kept their thoughts to themselves unless they wished to invite trouble. In this sense, Nazi Germany was a nation run on fear of the government."
A "Civilian National Security Force"....hmmm?
