Have you ever forgot to carry your CHL when carrying? What would happen if you were stopped by police when walking, and in your horror, you found out that you left your CHL at home?

I've had my CHL for only a few weeks. I can say that I will not forget my CHL because I've never forgotten my driver's license. I stand a bigger chance of losing my wallet than forgetting my license.

Twice. Nothing happened. Why would a police officer search you?

I used to leave home without my wallet pretty often until I developed a routine for avoiding that problem. I'm embarrassed how long it took.

I made color copies of my documents and stowed them in my car. They may come in handy some day, but the occasion has not arrived.

how about i take a picture with my cell phone and keep it there?

I'm not sure what you mean.

A piece of paper is a piece of paper. Trying to get a cop to look at your cell phone might be a different story.

Haven't done it, but certainly thought about it. If I did and had access to my car, I would consider disarming depending on what I am carrying.

I did the same-- keep a set of " just in case" copies in the car.

I also keep a set of laminated copies in my PWC along with the registration card; the Ms does the same in hers. So far, never been stopped and asked out on the water.

I'm of the opinion that in a pinch, these copies would surfice, Time may tell, though.

Making laminated "Just in Case" copies is a great idea. I wish I had thought of that one. I'll probably make some today. Fortunately, I've never left either my TDL or CHL at home since I got my plastic. What I do to avoid the problem is to keep both my TDL and CHL in a separate ID holder from my wallet (along with my ATM/Visa card). At night, I put that ID holder with my pistol so that I remember to put it in my pocket in the morning when I pick up my gun. Doing it that way also makes it easier to carry my IDs in a shirt pocket, where they are more easily accessible to me if I get pulled over by the police.

I don't see anything in the statue that allows for COPIES or PICTURES of your license. Paper copies are easily forged and so are pictures. The system is always looking for Test Cases so if you decide to go this route good luck.

GC 5411.205. DISPLAYING LICENSE; PENALTY. (a) If a license
holder is carrying a handgun on or about the license holder's person
when a magistrate or a peace officer demands that the license holder display identification, the license holder shall display both the license holder's driver's license or identification certificate issued by the department and the license holder's handgun license.

A person who fails or refuses to display the license and identification as required by this subsection is subject to suspension of the person's license as provided by Section 41 1.1 87.

(b) A person commits an offense if the person fails or refuses to display the license and identification as required by Subsection (a)
after previously having had the person's license suspended for a violation of that subsection. An offense under this subsection is a Class B misdemeanor.

Only once. Then I started carrying my CHL + DL + Insurance Card in the same ID holder. Although I have been carrying for years, I've been driving longer and mentally connect my DL with my car keys.

One time shortly after I got my CHL I forgot my entire wallet at home when driving to the gym. I had my NAA Mini in my gym bag and my Glock 27 in the GunVault and was paranoid the whole time.

You are correct that copies have no legal weight. However, I have found that most cops will give you a break if you don't give them a reason to do otherwise.

Some won't, of course. Authority junkies.

I don't see how anyone forget theor ID or CHL. When I wake up in the morning and put on my pants/shorts that is one of things that goes in my pocket. Normally it is watch on left wrist, money clip in right pocket, knife in right rear pocket, chap stick in left front pocket, cell in left front pocket, flash light on left rear pocket, and then holster and pistol on right hip. It has pretty much the way it happens every morning.

Like a Pilot, will say check, check, check, before each flight. I do implicit "checks". Let me ask you do you carry and forget your Ammo Magazines? If this ever happenen, then better never carry and rely on 911. Just do not forget the number 911 or your cell phone.
The idea, CHL will go where my Pistol Goes. Same for the Ammo' magazines, no?

If I did, I sure wouldn't admit to it.
and if they did, they'd prolly just put you down, on the spot....
