Broadband or Dial-Up

I need to get a feel for how many people are using some type of broadband and how many are using dial-up Internet connections. I need this information for a project, but I have no idea if it is available anywhere on the Internet.
I'm adding a poll to this this post, but that's not going to give me any information about people not already involved in the shooting community. I need to know your primary method of access to the Internet for personal use, whether that's at home or work.
Thanks,
Chas.

We have Suddenlink and it comes in on a cable. It's mucho faster than the dial-up we used to have. The little village we live in is like living at the end of a bad extension cord so our electricity/cable/phones only work when they work. We do have indoor plumbing and it works most of the time.

This issue is closely studied.
Overall, Pew found that 55 percent of American adults now [July 2008] have broadband access at home, up from 47 percent a year earlier ... By contrast, only 10 percent of Americans now have dial-up access.

This kind of study leaves out two factors:
- Those who have high-speed access at work or school but not at home
- Those who could not care less about "the internets"
If you can refine exactly what you are looking for, I may be able to find it.

Hi Jim:
I found the Pew study and it's good information. Unfortunately, it didn't have anything specific to Texas. From the Pew study and a couple of others, it looks like most people who want broadband have access to it. The study data about people who simply don't want to change from dial-up is also useful.

I've got satellite, I've got 1.5Mbps for almost 400 MB then about 1/2 the speed of dialup for the next 24 hour period.
I pay 120$ a month :-(

At work I share a fractional T1.
At home I have 10MB (download) service through cable.

I'm on Comcast broadband; 20 mbps download and 1.5 mbps upload. I get a little faster package with the all in one package. Internet, Digital TV and Digital Phone.

Broadband (cable) when I'm home, dial-up with an aircard (cellphone option) on the laptop when I'm not.

Post your speedtest.net results here :)
15431 kpbs down, 1546 kbps up. Althought I'm at my brother's in PA right now, my rates at home are about half that :(

I live right down the road from Oldgringo. We got consolidated Comm in Diboll about a yr ago now. All my stuff listed above works right now (that is subject to change at a moments notice) except for one tub drain line that we have to replace.

I have hughesnet satellite broadband here at home. I pay 65.00 a Month. It is not as good as a real wired broadband but beats the heck outta dialup. I have no other option where I live.
