Sorry for the photo quality, but I didn't want to try to set up a tripod on the side of the road at night.

My first thought was that the only LE left on the roads anywhere in the county was one city officer...then I spotted his car hidden behind the SUV.

So we're all dying to know - is Peacocks any good? What do they serve?

Typical all-night diner; nothing out of the ordinary. Only a few items that haven't been condemned by cardiologists. Primarily, it's one of three all-night sit-down places (if you consider Whataburger a real sit-down place) in town. Castillo's, while roomier, brighter, and much better from a taste perspective, is rather...uhhh...well, let's just say it's a great place to eat if you can relax in your own bathroom soon after.

Does Stephenville need 6 or 7 policeman at night?

Are these all city PD or are there also Sherrif in there?

Wow.

In their defense, do the Stephenville officers get to take their cars home at night? If so, maybe it was a service anniversary or retirement party for one of their fellow officers or some other type of meeting where there were quite a few off-duty officers drove their cars to the location. I have seen that from both Fire Department and Police departments in a couple of locations and when you went in, a lot of them were in street clothes and off duty.

Apparently, it needs 30 or more just to keep one actually patrolling most of the time.

At least one Erath S.O., five S.P.D, one T.S.U.P.D. and one other who may be from any of the departments; I forgot to check the car graphics, but the one left of the sign with the door clearly visible is Tarleton, the one second-to-right of the sign facing the camera is S.O., and most of the others are definitely S.P.D., though the one at far right could be any of them.

Wow. Wayne Dolcefino makes a good living reporting on these situations.

Most of them checked back in to service over the next hour. One or two of the others may have been on their way home, but this was three hours before S.P.D.'s shift change.

Plus, I see this at least a couple of times per week. I can understand that it's a low call volume time, but that's mainly because people won't be discovering the things they should be patrolling for until sunrise.

Ahh, I understand now. They could be a little more discreet about it and not all park together though. :nono:

Call just went out; they're heading to Castillo's tonight, so I guess about half or more of them will be useless for the remainder of the shift...

...unless there's a large stash of Beano somewhere, that is.

(I know one retired deputy who used to stop there every time he had a long prisoner transport scheduled. :evil2: )

Yeah, but it sure beat the "Ptomane Ptavern" on campus when I was there! But I will say that Peacock's is one of two places I've ever eaten that I could actually hear arteries hardening in the dining room!

We really liked Jake & Dorothy's, but I don't know if it's still there...been a long time since I dropped by. In those days $10 was a ton of money on Thursday Night at the Dodge House!

Still there, with most of the same menu, but closes earlier than I remember from high school. It's the food of choice for the old timers on day shift, though.
