Since unemployed days before Thanksgiving 2008, finding a job is pretty frustrating. But I make the best of it. I spent the free time looking for a new job, took my CHL class Feb. 20 and still waiting for the DPS in Austin to issue me my license, and in my free time build ARs. So if anyone is looking to build an AR-15, let me know. I will point you in the right direction in where to order parts and if you don't have an FFL, where to have it shipped to (if you live around the Houston or surrounding areas). Many places rip you off in the transfer fee. Places even charge you for each item even though it's in one box. Memorial Shooting Center is the place to go where they charge a flat $30.00 for a FFL transfer if the items are all in one box.

Anyways, let me know if you are building or wanting to build an AR and I show you where to order the parts. Barrels are hard to get in for the time being so start ordering now. Total project will be from roughly $700 for the stock AR-15 look to $1000.00 for an AR-15 with Magpul stocks, grips, clips, and free float rails. I built two to see where the price difference between the two. Basically, this is just some info for people are are in the process of buying an AR so they can be inform of the costs associated with building one compared to buying one from Bushmaster, DPMS, etc...

not bad, I have built a few myself. In fact my latest build (6.8 SPC with custom barrel) just came back from its first time out hog hunting, I built it around a stripped YHM flat top upper and a YHM Free float handguard. For ergonomic reasons I prefer a DPMS Pardus stock and the magpul full grip kit.

Del-Ton has good deals on BCGs (Bolt Carrier Groups) I would be cautious about using a different bolt as the head spacing if not checked could be a problem. That is the only thing you need to worry about though. If I remember correctly the Del-Ton BCG runs about $120 dollars or less, the down side is Del-Ton is about 3 or 4 months behind on delivering their products due to the "Obama Rush."

Order from Del-ton. Like G.A. Heath said, the downside is a long wait until your part comes in. But it's worth it.

I bought a complete A2 upper from Del-Ton last year, good stuff and good people.

Check PKFirearms from time to time. They are very reliable and fast. I picked up a new Bushmaster complete upper assembly last month with bolt and handle for $535. I usually check the site in late afternoons to see if any items have come into the inventory.
