Dallas motorcyclist dies in hit-and-run wreck

So here is my question about this scenario: Say you are the other biker and you see the car do the hit and run then flee the scene, obviously you are angry, but to me a 2-3 ton car = deadly weapon as obviously this story proves. Hit and Run with fatal results to me seams like a reason to draw and defend oneself.
This story is a little too close to home as I work right where the accident occurred, he visited my job (HD dealership), live 3 miles away and ride a motorcycle myself.
It would be tough choice between staying with your friend or chasing after the car. I hope i am never faced with the decision.

Dallas motorcyclist dies in hit-and-run wreck
Editor's note: The original version of this story incorrectly reported that Charles King was from Keller.
A 72-year-old motorcyclist from Dallas was killed late Thursday night in a hit-and-run wreck in Garland.
Charles King was knocked from his bike by a vehicle changing lanes and then hit by an 18-wheeler, Garland police said.
A second motorcyclist was also bumped but was able to keep control of his bike, police said.
King was a member of the Keller Rat Pack, a group that organizes motorcycle runs to raise money for charities.
Police say King and the second man were westbound on their bikes on LBJ Freeway near Centerville Road when the crash occurred about 11:30 p.m.
Police on Friday morning continued to search for the driver of the car, who police say fled after the accident. Witnesses told police that a dark, possibly black, car was involved.
Police asked anyone who saw what happened to contact the Garland Crime Stoppers Tips Line at 972-272-8477.
