In London, a man is on trial for two fatal shootings that he allegedly committed at an anti-violence rally in 2002.

His alleged accomplice is not available for trial, having been shot to death later.

Handguns have been completely illegal for non-LEO civilians in the U.K. and Ireland for a decade.

When I imagine a world without guns, I imagine someone getting shanked in prison.

Coleraine, Northern Ireland, Sunday, May 24, a mob of Protestant soccer fans beat a Catholic man to death, injured his wife, and seriously injured another man and a pregnant woman. The victims were apparently chosen at random because they lived in a Catholic neighborhood.

Handguns and semi-automatic weapons of all types are illegal in Ireland, as is self-defense.

This is the reality of a world without weapons: Mob violence and dominance by the strongest ape in the jungle.

Every time someone suggests that a world without guns would somehow be preferable to what we have now, I'm reminded of the attacks on subjects of HRM in London by gangs of teen thugs...

Of course, completely ignores that fact that prior to the general possesion of firearms society was run by force of arms (as in strength and steel), and that somehow violence not only existed but was rampant. Somehow, it doesn't seem like it would be all that pleasant. Generally, I think the nitwits who advocate getting rid of all firearms fail to think through their plan, and fail to realize that the thugs will still exist and would be even better able to force their will on those who are physically infirm or otherwise less able to defend themselves.

That pretty well sums it up, Jim, those that will be able to protect themselves and their families will have to be the most aggressive and violent, the baddest of the bad in order to survive in a world where the criminal rules.

In Sydney, Australia, a truck driver was killed by a stray shot from a gang shootout.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/ ... 61,00.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sydney has been plagued by rolling gunfights between gangs for years. Coincidentally, nearly all handguns and semi-automatic firearms have been banned from the island continent for years.

I'm an easy-going guy; but when I see incidents like this, I want to grab a "gun control" supporter by the ears and ask, Why can't you get it?

:iagree: it is so frustrating. :banghead:

A prime example of BG's will have guns and it is the innocent that pay the price of gun control.

In London, a jealous man shot his ex-wife's new boyfriend while the victim was cutting hair in a barbershop. The shooter used a "converted Baikal pistol," whatever that means.

Very handsome fellow. I can't imagine why his ex-wife left him.

The UK has had every "gun control" measure that the Bradys want for over a decade.

The Baikal pistol is an air pistol (usually plastic BBs or pellets). There has sprung up in merrie olde Englande a cottage industry that converts these legal to own toys into actual firearms, usually .22 cal.

In New Zealand, beat cops don't carry firearms. The police union is calling for beat cops to be armed, because they are walking into the middle of armed confrontations among gangs.

Handguns are not completely illegal in New Zealand (yet), but they are tightly controlled. This is an island nation where everything must come through customs by air or sea.

In China, earlier today, a deranged man slashed children in a kindergarten class, critically injuring five. The attack was stopped by a deliveryman who grabbed a fire extinguisher and smashed it into the assailant's head.

It was the fourth such attack in five weeks.

Civilian firearms ownership is practically banned in China.

I don't know who first said it, and I will probably muff the quote trying to go it from memory, but I like this: "We had a world without guns once. It was called the Dark Ages, and it was ruled by the biggest, strongest, most violent men with clubs and swords and spears."

Another day in the gun-free paradise of China:

7 children, 1 teacher killed in new China attack.

A world without guns would have BIG STICKS and SHARP ROCKS.
