Like the title says I'm looking for a middle of the road 1911...read around $700...Springer, Colt or para preferred but open to any. Have a Sigpro 2009 to trade plus some cash or can sell the Sig and do the whole cash thing. Must have 2 mags and at least 3 mags worth of .45 ammo as this will be my carry gun at work.

IMO, you can't beat a Taurus PT1911 for the money PLUS they are available. For your kind of money, you could get the SS version and have money left over for extra mags and/or a holster.
Finding ammo

is another issue.

Yep...a bud of mine just bought a Taurus PT1911 in Stainless at Cabelas on Sunday. It was right around 600.00.

You might save afew bucks buying through Bud'sguns.com. I bought both my XD's from Bud's and was satisfied all around. Good luck.

Out of curiousity, why do you consider a Colt "middle [abbreviated profanity deleted] the road"?
I was in Bachman yesterday. They have a good selection of Colts and Kimbers right now. However they said that Springfield isnt currently producing 1911s so they dont have any in stock.

If you consider Rock Island on the 'budget' side, and like, Ed Brown/Nighthawk Customs as 'top end', colt sort of fits in the middle there :)
Personally, My Scale runs like this
Budget Decent Quality - Rock Island, etc
Good Quality - Taurus, etc
Great Quality - Colt/Kimber/Springfield, etc
Omg I Hope to own one in my life - Ed Brown/NightHawk, etc

Ya, Colts are the high middle of the road for me...kinda like upper middle class. I would love to own a colt commander, but have not found one for less than about $850. Do have kind of a thing for the springfield champion too. I like the looks of the RIA tactical, but the 4" will suit me best.
