I mailed my packet off today and now the waiting game begins. I have heard that Galveston County is much faster than Harris County with its background checks, is this true? I do not have anything that should come back on my record, not even as much as a speeding ticket and I have never been institutionalized so things should move quickly other than the fact it is the government. The waiting game begins!!!

The answer to your question would be NO!, Negative! Galveston County seems like a snail. Day 118 for me. :frown5:

Do you work in another county? If you do, BG check there as well. My wife is on day 98, no papework problems or background problems, she worked in Harris county until recently. Good luck and welcome!

Nope, I live and work in Galveston county and have for the last 8 years. I had heard that Galveston County was moving much faster than Harris County, but apparently that turns out to be completely false.

when i called DPS , they said "Oh you live in a gulf coast county "
the way they said it , you would have thought someone died .

From what I have read, there are mountains that move faster than Harris county backgroud checks. ;-)
