I feel that it is my patriotic duty to make this known, the white house is asking for help, it needs snitches....it doesn't make mention of a monetary reward, maybe it could be negotiated?

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

Have you tried sending in the bills from the House and Senate? You might get put on "The List" but it also might get a point across if enough people did it.

That smacks of Nazi era Germany with the Nazis encouraging children to snitch on their parents, siblings, relatives if they speak disparagingly of the 3rd Reich, Hitler, or Hitler's policies....or civil liberties, or even freedom itself for that matter.
I hope.....no, I pray the American People see this for what it really is....a slow seduction into totalitarianism.

I believe (and I hope it never comes to that) that there will be a lot of Henry Bowmans out there when all is said and done...

I'm all over this one, here's my response to their call for action at
http://www.davidjbelcher.com. I think we should inundate the email with reports of the bad information being given at
http://www.healthreform.gov.

I would like to know, by the way, just how the above picture is more "mean-spirited and dangerous" than the one below of George Bush,

Is there such a thing as "Liberal Shame?" ...No?...

If you find yourself on the "List" already for something else (tea party attendee, etc) can they put you on the list again for something different. Or do they just add "hash marks" behind your name and violation. What would the maximum limit of times added to the "List" could be expected?
I'm just sayin' ...

Privacy Act request to report health plan objections
Posted by David Hardy · 6 August 2009 07:24 PM
The Administration has asked that anyone who gets an email or "see[s] something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy" report it to
flag@whitehouse.gov.
Evan Coyne Malone suggests the request
may be illegal under the Privacy Act and the Dept of Justice's statement about its purpose.
As a recovering bureaucrat, I can point to a much, much, bigger illegality under that Act.
5 US Code §552a(e)(7) commands that any Federal agency
"(7) maintain no record describing how any individual exercises rights guaranteed by the First Amendment unless expressly authorized by statute or by the individual about whom the record is maintained or unless pertinent to and within the scope of an authorized law enforcement activity;"
Persons posting to the web or sending emails are exercising First Amendment rights. I can't see how gathering this information is expressly authorized by statute, nor within the scope of an LE activity. It doesn't get much clearer than that.
{Plus, 552a(e) generally requires that agencies collecting information about individuals into a records system, upon establishment or change to that system, publish in the Federal Register a detailed description of that records system, maintain appropriate security, etc.)
I'd say there are glaring Privacy Act violations here. And the penalties, per §552a(i) include fines of up to $5,000, not only for gathering forbidden data, but for disclosing it or maintaining an undisclosed system.
