For those who Daily carry a Sig P229 or P239.....
...looking into holsters for daily conceal carry. I like the pull and shoot feature that comes with the Sigs, and they feel exceptionally comfortable in my hand. So thats probably what I'm going to go with.
I've been looking at the Triskel from Garrity, and the VersaMax II by Milt Sparks. Anyone have experience carrying them with a P229 or P239?
I like how it seems the Triskel turns the grip into the back when carried in IWB mode. I like that.
Any thoughts or advice are greatly appreciated!

Sig is always a good choice imho. You're talking about two totally different animals though. The 229 is a whole lot larger and heavier than a 239.
I'm a fair sized fellow and even I have trouble hiding the big grip of a 229.
Anyway, I am a holster junky and try everything I can get my hands on. For the 239, OWB, Don Hume Agent. It's a simple belt slide that's molded to the shape of the gun. It's very good and the price is lower than you'd expect a holster of it's quality to be.
IWB, I like the Comp-tac pro undercover and the Bladetech UCH. Both are similar but the Comptac has a single fixed belt hook and the blade-tech has two loops that are adjustable. Really apples to apples here.
If you go with the 229, the Milt Sparks VMII or Comp-Tac CTAC IWB and the Don Hume Agent or Milt Sparks IBAK for OWB.
Of course, there's no way I could ever try all the holsters on the market for each gun but those are what I've found works best for me with a 229 or 239. YMMV.

I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961
FWIW cypher, HV is the holster expert. Wish he would do holster reviews like StevieD does guns & ammo. HV is the one I go to when I have holster Qs.
+1 for the Comp-Tac Pro Undercover. I like the Gurkha also (my daily carry for Kimber Eclipse.) If you like leather then you cant go wrong w/ the VMll.
HV, aint you glad I am the only guy in the whole wide world that don't like them.

Soon as I trade for one in another turn key gun swap. That last one I really tried to learn to like it. I like His Summer Sp. 2. Next SS2 I come up w/ is probably gonna stay here.

If the P229 is that hard to conceal, then maybe the P239 is a better choice. I already know with a good holster it can dissapear on my body - it almost did with a $10 one size fits all, barely positioned.
However, thats why I was interested in the Triskel and other holsters that hold the grip in towards the body. Does it help that much, or does it not offset the size of the gun?
I see people getting away with 1911's, and they tend to be larger(albeit thinner) then Sigs(save for the Carry/CDP series from what I can tell). Is the thin nature of the 1911 design solely responsible for their ability to slide by with a larger weapon?

The slim profile of the single stack 1911 makes a huge difference when concealment is an issue. The 239 also has a thin grip profile. The 229 has a really fat grip, like shaking hands with John Candy (RIP).

I'll offer a comment.
I have a P229.
I can conceal it with an untucked shirt using a Hoffners Hybrid Ultimate Shirt Tucker(IWB). (tucking does not work for me!).
The Hoffners holster holds the gun tight to my body and it is reasonably comfortable. It works, but I don't like the holster and I can't really explain why but I wouldn't buy another one for any of my other guns.
OWB, I have a Galco Matrix M7X($20 kydex holster). It holds the gun tight to my body and conceals with an untucked shirt. I had to use a heat gun on it so I could draw the gun from it. Adjustable tension would be worth a few more dollars on the price. I only use it around the house.
So, here is my comment:
A fully loaded P229 is heavy! It is the most expensive handgun that I own and it is the one I carry least often.
The gun that I carry most often is the least expensive carry gun I own, a Kel Tec P11.
The other gun I carry regularly is a Glock 33. It weighs more than the KT P11 but less than a P229.
If I could only have ONE out of the 3 to carry I would choose the Glock 33. (small, light weight, packs a punch(357 SIG) ).
My wife has a Sig P239/40. It is smaller than a P229 and lighter. I THINK it would be easier to carry than a P229. I have never carried it. It is an excellent gun, points well, shoots well. I wouldn't turn down a chance to have one of my own.
My final comment would be. I don't think you would ever be sorry that you bought a Sig P239/40/357SIG, but you might regret buying a P229 for everyday carry.
Remember, you can't play golf with only ONE club!

I carried a Sig Pro 2340, which is the same size as the P229, in a CrossBreed Holster (IWB). It concealed very well and "Tucked" the grip into my back. It carried it at 3:30 to 4:00.
Also the cost is very nice for what you get. I paid about 50 bucks.

If Guns kill people, my keyboard mispells words.....
Sig 229 and 239 carry
Got both the 229R and 239....for the 229 + 239 I use my Colorado Vest and conceals well...although bit warm summer...still love it.
Prefer OWB ....for the 229 a Fobus with a fishing vest from Bass Pro and a Galco Fletch High is great for me for the 239 - easy one with Hawaiian/Mexican Shirt (tail out).
Galco stitched belt (1.50-1.75") n matching Fletch the best is comfort standing, sitting at desk...walking....never find myself with the 'belt pull up action' that I found with the best of the Wally World belts....lol

I'll post this again, as it may help some people out.
I just got a Crossbreed Super-Tuck and I think I've found my final holster for my Sig 239. I had a Don Hume IWB and BladeTech IWB previously. The only problem is that the grooves in the hammer would dig into my side after a few hours. The shape of the cut of leather on the Crossbreed keeps the hammer separate from my body so I can wear it all day and I don't even notice it sometimes. The Crossbreed also carries very close against the body and conceals very well. The cant is adjustable too with different holes cut in the leather for the clips. I can take pics of mine if you like. I probably bought 5 or 6 holsters among my Sig 239 and Ruger SP-101 before I found this one that I really like and am going to stick with.

I have both P229s and a P239. My daily carry is a P229 in a Comp-Tac Pro Undercover IWB, and I don't find it either particularly heavy, or hard to conceal. I haven't used either of the holsters that you're looking at, but if hear-say is of any use, everyone I know who has used the VM II raves about what a good holster it is, and if I ever felt the need to look for anything other than a Comp-Tac, that would probably be the first on my list.

Cyphur,
The 229 is heavier than the 239 by a bunch, but not too heavy to work with. Like HV said the grip is a whole differnent story. I chose a 1911 over the 229 that I already owned just for that reason. The single stack 1911 is so much thinner, in fact I think that it's just a little thinner than the 239 as well, if I remember correctly.
If you decide to buy a 239, I have a VMII that you can try on to see how it fits you. Just let me know.

I loved my P239 (9mm), but my wife has claimed it as hers. It is the gun I carry when I need to go light. My only problem with it is that the grip is a tight fit for me. I have an extended mag, but it sticks out strangely. I carried this in a CTAC, but am switching to the Infidel.
I tried Glock, it was light, but I didn't care for the grips on that either. I carried it in an Infidel and loved it.
Sunday, I'll pick up my new P229 (.40). This will be my main carry gun. It will be carried in an Infidel.
In the summer I wear camp shirts - since their not tucked in, they work fine. In the winter I wear a flannel or sometimes my SigTac jacket if it is really cold.
Part of carrying is finding the right combination - gun, holster, and clothing. This is something each has to figure out on their own. This is why we all have drawers of holsters we clean out every year.
