We have a huge thread for your daily carry guns, and your black guns. I think we should have a thread for each category that is pertinent to the defense/security/safety/well being to not only ourselves but our family and property. Pistols and long guns obviously, but how about knives, flashlights, accesories and how we "harden" our homes? A burglar alarm? How about a CCTV system? Or other alternate means. This is my alternate means:

His name is Toby. He's an Airedale Terrier, the largest terrier breed in the world. Airedale's were used in WWI as guard dogs by the British. He weighs 80 lbs. His "I don't like you bark" is so low in pitch and loud that he actually rattles the crystal in the break front in the dining room. He barks at everything that walks in or across our yard.

Here are mine.

Keiko, a 1 yr old Akita. She is actually very quiet...until you are close too close.

And then Sassy and Ambush, a 3 yr old brother/sister team, mixed breed. These two are my early warning systems...they don't warm up to strangers very well.

~7 year old Australian Shepherd. She's a rescue, and doesn't want to be a rescue again. She defends the house and her family well....

You laugh, but it's true! Here she is, in action, last time some goblins tried to break in to the house!

Any would be bg that do their homework would usually see one of mine in or around the place, and would probably decide to go elsewhere . The one that decides on the spur of the moment to do a B&E on my place is going to be in for a world of hurt.

Same here. I actually have 2 dogs. The other is munch, a beagle mix rescue. He's my distant early warning system. Plus he's an alpha type from the get go. We have a bay window that faces the street and that is their observation post.

I've always had a dog, all my life and I'll never ever be without one. Maybe that's one of the reason's we've never had a break in. ;-)

She's a terrible alarm system. Loves people. Sleeps on the couch or bed ~18hrs per day. But she's a sweetheart, so I keep her around. She's a rescue dog as well.

Forgot to mention. Because she's a rescue we're not 100% sure what she is. Because of the way she behaves, talks (growling) and her thick undercoat, I think she has malamute and golden retriever in her.

My wife thinks shes part collie, part husky.

I just think she's a good dog. :coolgleamA:

Some great looking dogs/alarms y'all!

Meet Samson, our 178 lb. Great Dane, he's 8 years old, hopefully he has a few grand years left in him. He's a GREAT dog, very affectionate, friendly, protective when needed and he has a sense of justice (I say this because I've seen him in action when needed!). Previous to Samson I had two German Shepherds, those were GREAT dogs as well, but there is nothing like a Great Dane. They tend to drool a BUNCH though! :biggrinjester:

Brody isn't very mean.... but he is a great dog and barks at everything that moves :) He is also learning to be a fantastic bird dog :cheers2:
Chuckie, the cat is pure evil (as the name implies.) He beats up the dog, beats up me, beats up mama. Thieves beware, he will claw your eyes out.

This guy will be missed. His name was Rocky, he was a fantastic Ridgeback, and a teddy bear. But, he didn't like strangers and was pretty aggressive when provoked.

All of our animals are adopted, I encourage all of you to adopt when you get the chance. It's rewarding, and they make the absolute best pets in the world.
