A few weeks ago I finally bit the bullet ( ) and decided to pick up a dedicated .22LR AR upper for cheap practice with the AR platform and varmint hunting. I've owned 10/22's, Rem tube fed rifles, and various pistols, but I'm a fan of the EBR so I had to have one. Black Dog Machine has them for $499 right now.

Color me impressed. I was definitely expecting to have growing pains, FTF, FTE, etc., but it's been flawless. I've run it hard from day one (~1500 rounds so far) with an array of ammo (some that's over 30 years old) and I'm completely shocked with its performance. They promise 1" at 50 and they aren't lying. If someone is looking for a .22LR that's great for plinking, cheap practice on an AR platform, AND accuracy I'd definitely recommend.

Thought about doing a quick swap with one of my Aimpoints on a LaRue mount, but the cheapy is working alright until pick up a Micro T-1 for it.

I had a few issues with mine when I first got it. Tried various types of ammo, Remington, Federal, CCI's that Tac Sol recommends but still had many FTF's. Grabbed some Aguila .22's from the CMP and have not had a problem since. A buddy bought one at the same time and has had no problems at all.

Anyway, once I found the right ammo I've had no problems and, boy, is it fun to play with. I've got mine set up with an EOTech 512 and Tactical Innovations TAC-65 suppressor. It takes longer to load the magazines than empty them. Went out on Friday and shot 400 in way under two hrs.

Did yours come with the O-ring?

They stopped including the O-ring. I wonder if it actually caused some problems. Other folks that seemed to have problems early on were wetting the BCG down like a regular 5.56 BCG. Turns out they figured it runs best dry with just light lube on certain spots.

One mod I did do was gas-busterize the charge handle with Permatex High-Temp Red TRV gasket maker.

No, I don't believe it came with an o-ring or, at least, I don't recall seeing one when I took it apart. I do have it pretty much dry except for a drop of oil where the bolt touches the hammer on recoil.

I used to get a nice puff in the face when shooting with the stock collapsed. Do you get a lot of blow back through the back of the charge handle with the can on?
