I'm new to this board, and hoping to be a new instructor some time in 2010 - if my paperwork makes it in time.
I have electronic fingerprints scheduled for Wednesday, then I'll be good to go.

I'm in the NW DFW area. Born in England, moved here in 2005 through work, fell in love with a Texan gal and married her in 2006. I became a US citizen this year :patriot: I'm working on Texan citizenship :txflag:

Prior to 2005 I'd never seen a gun in real life, my wife convinced me to get trained and she had guns in the house. I'm now an NRA member, and owner of a small gun collection (couple of rifles, a nice shotgun, and 5 handguns). I took my CHL in 2006. I'm hoping to get my CHL Instructor in 2010. I shoot at Parker County Sportsman Club.

Just dropped in to say howdy. I'll be lurking around and 'learning the ropes' before posting too much.

Welcome, Brit! We are in the same part of the world. Look us up sometime and we can get together for some shooting.

I'm a few miles outside Azle, but my in-laws live in Trophy Club which appears to be very close to where your classes are held.

Ahhhhh, Trophy Club. Guess ya mighta seen/heard about the feral hog sometimes moving in on some of those folks. Grapevine Lake Corps of Enginners says "no" to baitin 'em and night huntin on Corps property, but ya might see what in-laws think of a corn feeder and me showing ya how to operate a crosssbow in their back yard. ;-)

Welcome to TexasCHLforum Brit. What a great "conversion" story; from unarmed British subject to armed Texas citizen!

Chas.

TheBrit:

Welcome to the states, to Texas in particular, and to the world
of informed self defense, taking advantage of the wonderful
2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

Myself, joe817, and kevinf2349 (another Brit) have exchanged an
email or 2 with a gentleman named Graham <Showell?> who lives
in a small town near Birmingham, England. He runs a website, IIRC
the exact URL: http://www.britainneedsguns.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Graham is trying to restore private gun ownership to the UK, but I
believe that he has a gargantuan task ahead of him. If he really wants
to be armed, he should take a page out of your playbook and move
to Texas!!

If you are ever looking for a shooting partner send me a PM. Love to go shooting with other CHLs. Met a instructor on here already. We shoot once a month at Dallas Pistol club and have a ball. Another Brit here? We're taking over ; -)

I've been in Texas for about 15 years, but grew up in Buckinghamshire. One of the many advantages of being here is the ability to go to the range and make some noise from time ot time. That and being legally allowed to protect your home and family. Not to mention the weather.....

I love the part where your Texan sweetheart is the one that converted you into a gun-toting Texan. Do you plan on resurrecting the massive British cattle-ranchs that once prevailed in Texas?
