Christmas afternoon my wife actually came to me to say "let's go shoot my new gun". We were at the farm, so a few steps down the hill toward a ravine and the targets were set up. She put about 75 rounds through her new pistol, and we worked on the basics. Racking the slide, shooting and hitting the paper, and properly loading clips. I simply wanted her to hit the paper somewhere, which she accomplished. Shortly thereafter, we were done for the day.
The next day, she asked "are we going to shoot today"? My heart melted. So, we grabbed a couple of boxes and headed toward the ravine. This time, we talked shooting stances, ejecting FTF rounds, and her confidence grew. She asked "what kind of pistol is this", to which I would reply "it's a COMPACT 9mm".....she asked, "what's does a compact mean?" I explained, and finally I un-holstered my XDm .40 and handed it to her. Six rounds later she handed it back smiling. We finished the last box, and headed to the house.
Today as we got ready to leave, she asked again "Am I going to have time to shoot more"? After realizing why my love for her grew mightily the last few days, we headed out to the ravine for one last outing. Guys, she kept almost all of 'em inside the 10 ring at 7 yards. I was impressed, and further in love, LOL. We finished off the last of the ammo, and cleaned up, and headed back to the house.
We got home to Sugar Land tonight, and she said "I really love my new pistol, thank you", followed by "and yours is REALLY sweet". "SWEET". A term saved for those special occasions when we (generally men, if I can borrow a sexist descriptive) encounter something un-describably awesome.
She now wants to get her CHL, which I totally support.
Funny thing is.....the pistol seems to have meant more than the diamonds.
I know there's a Foxworthy funny in this somewhere. However, it seems she's genuinely enthused about something I've been enthralled with my entire live.
I'm a happy camper. Oh, and proud.

If your wife wears her new diamond necklace while putting rounds downrange with her new gun, you might be a Redneck.chuckybrown wrote:I know there's a Foxworthy funny in this somewhere.
