Got my Comp-Tac today

Came in the mail this afternoon and so far I am enjoying it, wore it for about 4 hours or so, the longer I had it on the better it felt! Retention is great and the draw is very smooth also. I did realize two things at about hour two of wearing it #1 I need to lose a few pounds :???: and #2 I am going to have to invest in a gun belt like some folks on here have recommended.
The only thing that I do not like is where the bottom of the belt clips are in my pants, has anyone trimmed them after they found where they liked the holster?

Do you have yours adjusted to where your gun rides pretty high? Meaning, you have the screws in the upper holes of the clip? If so, I can see where the clips may extend below the bottom of the holster and be bothersome. Personally, I have mine adjusted with the screws in the lower holes, so there isn't much clip left sticking out at the bottom.

After you've worn it for awhile, and toy'd with the various positions/cants, you can certainly trim off the excess. If for some reason you regret your alteration, just get new clips. They're a little pricey at $17.00, but I don't think you'll have any problem if you trim them after you've decided where you like it.

BTW, you might want to put a little loc-tite on the retaining adjustment screws after you have it where you want it. I was taking my holster off at the end of the day, and one of the screws had backed itself out. I could have easily lost the little screw, washer, and rubber bushing!

That's the only problem I've had with mine. Otherwise, I REALLY like it overall.

Ditto on the pounds.

Which Comp-tac holster did you get?

I have used their ShirtTucker as my carry and competition holster for several years. It has been ideal for me. They do not make it any more but the equivalent is their Infidel with the Shirttucker strut.

I have a couple of their CTACs and have been very happy with them. I swapped the leather tabs on both, as I like the gun to ride lower.

A good belt will make a world of difference too.

Enjoy!

I picked up the Minotaur MTAC Holster, I will say it is breaking in nicely and getting more and more comfortable and I am not worried about my rig shifting or anything. I went out for a while today and felt good about the concealment it gives.
The weight of carrying the XD is for sure a lil more noticeable then carrying my Smith 37 airweight that I have been carrying, but the extra rounds are nice and comforting!

I have the same holster and carry at about 4 oclock with a front cant of about 45 degrees..... rear clip in top hole and and front clip in close to bottom... I shaved extra off and have had no problems...

I've been using the Minotaur MTAC to carry my XD-45 for the last 2.5 years, and have been very pleased with it. :thumbs2:

As for a belt, I have a 1.5" kydex-lined leather belt - also from Comp-Tac - that does an excellent job of supporting my carry rig.

As you yourself mentioned and some folks have reiterated on this thread...

Get yourself a good "gun" belt. It will make all the difference. Good chance that new holster of yours will work/feel even better than it does now.

There are a couple of Posts with recent activity about gun belts some folks use.
