Don't know if I'm eligible for CHL....

I was charged with a MIC about two years ago and if I read correctly it's considered a Class C misdemeanor. I've since done all what the judge asked me to do and haven't done anything else since. Does anyone know if that will disqualify me from applying for a CHL?

MIC (Minor In Consumption). I got the ticket on New Years eve for drinking half a beer two years ago. That's the only conviction I have ever had.

Really? I've been reading the requirements and some say cannot have been convicted of disorderly conduct within the past 5 years. When I look under the Section 42.01 Penal Code a Class C misdemeanor is listed under there. I just want to be absolutely sure so I don't waste money and time filling out an application that will be denied soon after.

To clear the fog, I was asked have you been ever arrested while filling the CHL application, of course, I was not. My application sailed for like 60 days till it came home.

This is true. So?
DOC /= MIC

Other than speeding tickets, I have a clean record.

To be 100% clear, there are only two class C misdemeanors that apply to your CHL application. You cannot have been convicted of any of the various disorderly conduct charges specifically under Section 42.01 of the Penal Code. This is a five year limit. You also cannot have been charged with a class C assault under section 22.01 IF the offense included the elements of family violence. This is a permanent ban from owning firearms under federal law. There is a difference between what federal law and state law consider family violence, so this conviction may need a lawyer.
You minor in consumption is a class C violation but comes from the Alcoholic Beverage Code, so it has no bearing on the CHL.
If you did not pay a ticket and got arrested on the warrants, you may need to tell DPS about the arrest, but the charges still would not affect your CHL.
This is my understanding of the law, and I may be contradicted by DPS. They get to make the decisions, not me.

You will be fine. This exact question was asked in my CHL class. The instructor asked if he paid the ticket/met all set requirements by the court. Then the instructor asked if he was ever arrested for that or any other event. The guy said no, the instructor said your'e just fine then and you don't have to list that on your application. Should be good to go.

I got a Minor in Possession (MIP) ticket when I was 20 on the beach in Port Aransas from a TABC officer, to which I subsequently got deferred adjudication. I applied when I was 23 (3 years later) and I decided to get a certified letter from the Port Aransas Municipal Court stating that they no longer had record of the charge (They lost all class C records during a change in computer systems). I notified DPS on my application that I got the ticket and was given DA, and included the letter from the Port Aransas Municipal Court that they no longer had records of it. I now have my plastic, and it didn't really seem to delay things, as I got the plastic after about 4 months (I applied last spring and was one of those delayed for months, just like everyone else, but this didn't have a bearing on it).
Hope this helps.
