Kansas makes serious improvements

Kansas has a very brief "must issue" history, and their original statute wasn't great, but they've made some serious strides toward improving things. On Monday, their Senate Bill 306 was signed into law, and should take affect in a couple of weeks.

The most drastic improvement is changing the penalty for carrying past a simple "gunbusters" sign from a felony, to a $50 fine. Wow!

I don't follow any Kansas forums, but I spotted this on an Arkansas forum. The commentary (not mine) is in blue.

Do y'all know the status of the proposed Kansas legislation that would make campus administration either 1) allow concealed carry in campus buildings, or 2) pay for metal detectors, etc. for those buildings? The Kansas House passed the Bill (2685) on March 24. Haven't been able to find anything about it since.

I like that angle because it forces the issue about "gun free zones"

Thanks.

Whoops, finally read the link OP's link, and the info on that Arkansas site answers my question... it's also passed their Senate and on the Governor's desk.
