My letter responding to people complaining about Dove hunting in Frisco "too near their homes" and their fears that a bullet would hit their house. was in today's DMN.

They edited out my rant about range closings due to similar complaints (not just CCGR but other ranges I know of) and left a couple of other cheap shots out, but I'll take it.

So these people who moved to what was rural farmlands just a few short years ago want the hunters to move along to other rural farmlands instead of accepting that the place where they chose to live happens to encroach on a place where people have been hunting many, many years?

In the words of Brian Burns: Welcome to Texas, just don't forget to go back home.

And, by the way, no bullets are used in dove hunting.

Usually, that is the only section of the Dallas Morning Landfill that I read; mostly for the humor of the OpEd.

I laughed out loud at the original article where they quoted that woman who "was afraid of them shooting bullets so close to the house."

Hey jim, do you have a copy of the original letter? What were they afraid to print?

I have a copy of the original, and I think what they did was edit for space (they do that a lot) and applicability to the subject at hand and range closings such as CCGR, even if it was due to neighbor complaints and city zoning, do not DIRECTLY relate to the Dove hunting.

One thing I find interesting is that I miquoted Brian Burns' song, and they corrected that. At least someone else knows who Brian is.

I have a suggestion for them.

Why don't they move to some ghetto area, where they can know with certainty that the sounds of gunfire in the morning are crime related? NY City or Philidelphia come to mind, or D.C.

And then there are those who move near an existing gun range and then want it shut down due to the noise, as happened to the Collin County Gun Range and a couple of oters that I know of.

In the words of Brian Burns, immortalized in his song by the same name "Welcome to Texas, now won't you please go back home?"
