Amusing CHL story

The wife and I were at Williams and Sonoma this weekend returning a pepper grinder when I started looking at the knives (mmmm... knives  ) one of the people in the store came over and asked if I needed any help, and I asked her if I could look at a Shun folding steak knife, and took it out and asked me if I carry knives often, I unclipped the knife I had on my pocket and showed it to her, and she said "do you always carry the knife? for self defense? Like a gun?" I was startled, but made sure not to react, then she said "I have friends in washington who think that everyone in TX carries all the time", I said, "We'll, that's a bad stereotype, why would you need one of those?" and we both laughed, and she said "yeah, I know they're (her friends) silly"

I had my Sig P239 IWB at 3:00 under a Blue star brewery (San Antonio) t-shirt. she left to get a knife out of the stockroom, and my wife and I looked at eachother at the same time, and smiled. :smilelol5:

Another "Nobody knows, nobody suspects" moments. :thumbs2:

I would probably go do something stupid like: "You don't????!!! I thought it's the law." :-)

I always carry a knife. I actually carry two. I have a Kershaw Ken Onion assisted opening model as well as a Leatherman. My friends get a big kick when I get asked by someone if I have a knife they can borrow. I usually ask back something deadpan like “Do you need a folding knife, a multi-tool knife or just a straight up knife cause I don’t have one of those.

However, since I know absolutely nothing about knife fighting, I would never consider any of them a self-defense weapon. They are simply tools.
