Went to a funeral yesterday, was my step father so rode to cemetary in the family lemo. First time I have been to this cemetary since last November, before I had gotten my CHL. Going thru the gate they had a small sign stating " No Firearms" Was black letters on a white backaground about 6"x6" and I thought oops! Didn't see a regulation 30.06 though and I know no one knew I was carrying. Possibly my brother cause he knows I never leave home without it.
Was wondering why they would have a sign like that when there was actually a military service going on with the 21 gun salute.

I wouldn't have sweated it, especially since you were family...who's going to question you on your day of mourning?
Also, there were prob no cemetary employees nearby so who would enforce?
I carried at a funeral recently in Lindale and all was well, 'cept for my sisters boyfriend sitting next to me and nudging my xD with his elbow and then smiling at me and asking " what cha got there guy"....knowing full well what I had. He's got his CHL too though, he's just a smart butt.
He knows I carry, obviously, but those clips on an MTAC are pretty much a dead give away to anyone in the know.

To answer your other question nobody in thier right mind would try to stop a 21 gun salute at a military members funeral.

My guess is that the "No Firearms" sign is merely to discourage wayward youth and the like from using the cemetery as a target range. I don't think anyone in management would have seriously objected if, God forbid, you actually had to use the gun in defense of self or other mourners. Certainly the residents would not have noticed.

All the above ... true. Also, even if it were properly posted I think the 21 or whatever gun salute would be exempt because it would be part of the event just like the rule about having a gun at a school sponsored event unless it is for the event.

The sign you are inquiring about is not a valid posting. It's what I call a "sheeple" sign, one placed to placate the great mass of oblivious people in this world.

I don't know who it was being buried. It was in a different part of the cemetary just heard the shots going off and the cemetary manager saying that it was a military funeral and that that whole driving area was blocked off due to so many cars, our lemo had to back out of the area we were in to get back to the highway.

Since I have gotten my chl it has just become a thing like putting on my underwear to stick my holster/gun inside my waistband, extra mags in my pocket, as soon as I get dressed. Like it says on another posters signature: Carry 24/7 or guess right. Yeap I was ready for them pesky zombies too.

Anyone that gets a military funeral gets the salute, flag covered casket and taps. As a retiree I have one coming, not too soon I hope, though I don't feel as if I deserve one. But it's nice to know that the wife won't have to worry about it.
