Keep Austin Weird Festival

My wife and I will be in Austin tomorrow for a bowling tournament (she is bowling, not me), and she will finish bowling tomorrow about noon or so.
She found out that the Keep Austin Weird Festival is going on.
I can't see (haven't found?) out where it really is, so I cannot say if I am allowed to carry or not.
Anyone have any ideas of if it is public land? at UT? in the bar(s)?

Thanks

I think the festival is mostly outdoors, isn't it? I would assume any 51% signs at actual bars would be in effect, but as it's outdoors in a public place they wouldn't be able to post 30.06.

Of course, IANAL.

I thought we usually keep Austin weird on election day...It is sometimes on the ballot, I've seen it...Honest I have!!! :thumbs2:

You don't have to be present to win either...

Here is the web site for the festival: http://www.keepaustinweirdfest.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It is not very specific, but it appears the festival is on the city streets and in the city park along the lake. While I am sure they will try to ban guns, it would not be legal in the park or on the street.

Is this a counter demonstration against some ubiquitous group trying to normalize the city? :biggrinjester:

Keep Austin Weird.
But I would not call it a festival (as it is termed by the promoters), but it was basically - OK.
On the 1st Street Bridge.
there was about 15 vendors and a band and that's about all (for the day time)
There is a 5K at 7pm, what else? who knows, but to me, a waste of $27. (2 x $10 for admission and $7 for parking), but the food at Threadmills was Very Good - I highly recommend it

If $27 is added to the food tab, do you still recommend it?

Nation's Boyfriends Dreading 'Free Event In The Park' Season
June 24, 2010
NISKAYUNA, NY—With summer officially beginning this week, the nation's boyfriends groaned Thursday in anticipation of yet another "Free Event in the Park" season. "Kelly already wants us to go see some Brazilian horn player and these people who use puppets to make fun of politicians. I'm sure they're fine, but we just got AC this summer," said Jason Evans, a boyfriend. "Plus, we go out all the time." A spokesperson for the nation's girlfriends countered that it would be a shame not to take advantage of the tons of cool-sounding cost-free events, which include a craft fair, an outdoor screening of The Wizard Of Oz, and the appearance of a modestly successful mid-90s alternative band at the Tulip Festival.

No, don't think the food was worth 13.50 more for each of the 2 meals, but it was good
