Hi, I have two of the the Defenders and a New Agent. One of the Defenders is a standard SS, the other is a Talo Night Defenders. The wife's purse carry is the New Agent (same frame). I have nothing but good to say about all of them. They have all functioned without failure, all the ammos I have fed them, and as with most Colts I own......just work. To clarify, I have a 1960's 9mm Colt that does not like JHP.

My carry SS Defender has over 750 rounds through it without a failure using Colt, McCormick, Wilson, and Springer mags and WWB JHP, Speer, and Hornady XTP. The New Agent has about 500 rounds through it and the same story. The Night Defender only has 240 rounds though it and has not had a failure either. What can I tell you other than they work for us. They do what they were designed to do.

As I go through the CHL journey, I change with wardrobe. I have no problem recommending the Defender as an excellent light weight, tucked shirt carry. I don't recommend it for extended range and target shooting as it is a lightweight and wears me down after a box or two of ammo. I start choking it and trying to compensate for my old age and fatigue hanging on to the small grip. It is an excellent CCW sidearm, if used for it's intended purpose, self defense at close range. Both the wife and I have small hands and need the smaller grip on a 1911, and the shorter reach to the trigger....all to be considered.

By the way, my wife uses the New Agent (.45acp) as her purse carry and finds it easier to control than her previous 9mm (S&W6909) and her .40 XDSC. The slower velocity of the .45 ACP makes for an easier BoooooWoooom (recoil), than the higher velocity smaller caliber Craaackkk!!. I hope that makes sense to you. Good luck with your choice. I know this kind of thing is something advice really doesn't seem to help with.
