Another thing about this administration that frustrates me.

It was expected. I'm sure both sides were working on the appeals for weeks.

U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton also struck down the section of law that makes it a crime not to carry immigration registration papers and the provision that makes it a crime for an illegal immigrant to seek or perform work.
That last part particularly strikes me as overstepping the Feds authority. In reality I don't see how any of a law that mirrors Federal law can be struck down in the first place. If it differed by exceeding Federal law/regulations I could understand it, but as I interpret it it simply reinforces what is already on the books.
I don't see it as a State stepping on the Feds authority at all.

This is so crazy it is causing my head to spin............

Why? The Federal Government's position is basically, Federal Law trumps State Law and AZ cannot enforce Federal Law. What if all State and Local law enforcement agencies took that to heart for every law. If there is a Federal Statue then the State (and other local) Statues cannot be enforced? How about drug laws? Local LEO finds a little weed in the car, let 'em go there is a Federal Law. What about Auto Safety Standards? Can CA really have different standards? Just a few that come to mind.

My advice to Washington, " Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it!" :banghead:

It would effectively squash a lot of the federal firearm laws, too! :thumbs2:

Not sure how it can be legal to get a job in a country you are in illegally. Am I missing something?

Gentlepersons,

This issue is not about states' rights, fed responsibilties or illegal aliens, it's about getting the Hispanic vote/s and it's about re-elections.

That's exactly what it is. I don't even think the President cares how it comes out as long as it's well known which side he was on.

Maybe Arizona will do as the sanctuary cities do, just ignore what the Feds say. Do you think the Feds would ignore Arizona, the way they ignore the sanctuary cities who openly thumb their nose at federal law? :reddevil

Another interesting aspect of this is the judge and the appeals process. I haven't researched it myself but one of the news reports tonight implied that she is an "activist" judge, a Clinton appointee, who has taken a rather interesting (and not necessarily Constitutionally founded ) approach to some of her past rulings. It appears that she continued that trend with this one.

Appeal process will go the the 9th Circuit....and we know how Constitutionally founded most of their rulings are ( :smilelol5: ). That means that resolution is probably going to have to come from SCOTUS. We are probably looking at 2-3 years before that happens.

One rather interesting element of all of this is where the Constitution says that the Federal Executive Branch gets to pick and choose the laws they enforce.

That's why it's now in vogue to call them, "Undocumented Democrats."
