Looking at the Beltman website and trying to decide between the horsehide or bullhide 1 1/2 " belt. Which would be the better belt? Is the horsehide worth the extra dollars? Thanks.

I think "better" is subjective. Supposedly horsehide resists sweat better, but to me that 's really more important for a holster and less so for a belt. Also horsehide is harder to stain evenly, so be sure you like the color choices offered as they likely won't be as wide a selection.
I have a Beltman Bullhide and love it. Best belt I've ever owned.

I would have bought the horsehide if it had come in my size. I probably still would get the internal stiffener as well.

I'm not an expert on leather, but I've been wearing a Kramer horsehide belt darn near daily for almost 12 years and its holding up great. I think either choice would work as long as you clean and condition it every so often. Mine still supports a holster nicely. I believe the extra you pay for horsehide is worth it.

I have a horsehide belt with internal stiffner from Beltman - what a great belt. I've had it for about five years and it still looks brand new. It will probably hold up another 50 years easily. Seriously top quality belt. I can't compare it to the others, but if I knew how well it would hold up, I would have bought one even if I didn't have a gun.

Thanks guy. Two more questions. How much stiffer is the belt with the stiffener added? Is there a breakin period?

Well got my belt today from The Beltman. Had to go with the quick ship belt as the one I was wearing was litterally falling apart. This is one nice belt. nothing fancy, just a good stiff belt. Already did the lock tite thing. Thanks guys for your help.

Just received mine today also. What a nice belt. Seems like it is holding the gun and holster up better than old belt did. Tough to keep a rag on a funnel, if you know what I mean. I am in quite good shape. Yes, round is a shape.
They sent an ad along with some price reduction belts that are in stoch. So I ordered another one just one size larger. Both belts will work just fine. Really nice people to deal with.

Wasn't sure what the Locktite thing was until I read this and checked my belt. All the fasteners were about to fall off. Thanks for the tip, I'm on it!

I noticed mind after I lost one of the fasteners. The Locktite is a must.
I have had several "gun belts." I have to admit that the Beltman's belt are the best. I own four of them. They are all four the bullhide. Two in black and brown that 1 1/2". Two in black and brown in 1 1/4" for dress belts.

Not a dress belt, but the Wilderness Instructors model is my every day belt. Love it!

I am also looking at the Wilderness belts. May go with the frequent flier with stiffiner for casual/hunting etc wear.
